There is a new movie called Fearless starring Jet Li that depicts the story of a chinese hero who advoated the Chinese Martial Arts during the Ching Dynasty to the world through competition after enduring a painful and humbling past.

This story is the first Jet Li movie that has seen the actor return on a big scale project in China, and also worn ancient chinese costumes in a long time.

Does anyone know about the release date of this movie ? ...

Besides that, I also would like to know what sort of Martial Arts do you guys prefer? Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Korean, Brazilian, Indian, Malaysian etc. Anyone who has had experience in any field, whether experiences which are good or bad in any training gyms, competition or streets fights are welcomed to share their experiences.

I am very eager to read your replies but "PEK YAU" experiences are not preferred because we dont want anyone to spark between one another. This is a Martial Arts topic not Mortal Kombat ... =)

Dunno when the movie will be out. I'm eagerly anticipating it as well.

Anyway, about martial arts. Depends on what your aim or goal is, to take up martial arts. Is it for fitness? For self defence? For competition? For feeling better about yourself? For learning your heritage?

If you just want to keep fit, any martial art is good. Same goes for self defence and self confidence. If your are Chinese and want to learn a part of your culture, pick up kung fu, anykind. If you want to be able to fight properly in a relatively short period of time, take up kickboxing or muay thai or some other martial art that is proven in the ring.

chinese kungfu, wushu, any chinese martial art is interesting. Another martial that really kinda caught my attention is the japanese Kendo... maybe itz the gear that amplified the attention... looks interesting.

i was in taekwondo during my schooling days... but football overcame it... so i sorta lost interest in taekwondo... and still a football freak til now.. and sadly to say i totally forgotten the taekwondo patterns... haiii.. down the drain.

this movie is releasing on the 26th of January 2005

To me, the most interesting martial arts is Chinese Kungfu. I love watching movies that has chinese martial arts. Other than that, Judo is interesting as well. I, myself used to be in Taekwon-do club when I was in secondary school. It's fun and interesting but when got beaten up .... it's real painful ... ^^;;

If i m not wrong..there is copoeira in some where in KL i forgot where is it.... a collegue of mine learn before.... i've to say copoeira its pretty cool...something unique

IMO, if you're taking Martial Arts, it's mostly going to be for keeping fit and etc... self defense? well hmmm....

yeah sure you learnt all those moves, but when something really happens, would you react the way you were trained?

it is possible to apply what you have trained, but I do think that takes A LOT MORE effort and time to adapt to the technique and skill FULLY.... I mean it could take years, non-stop training and blar blar...

if you're just going for a class like 1-2 times a week, hell I think if some gangster walk up to you, you 2 would be fighting like the ones we always saw on the Internet la... hugging each other rolling on the floor b*tch slappin around blindlessly.... LOL :P
