HI Bros,

I am running 1.3 bar and recently, lowering it to 0.9 bar. I plan to revert back to stock boost which is 0.6 bar. I understand that the lower the boost, the less knocking especially during hot weather. So can I confirm this point?

Thanks!

Makes sense but haven't really tried it myself. Come bring you car and I can check the knock for you .... :p

Ok ok... I send the car to your place and pls help me to retune it. Hehehhee....

well bro, I was just thinking to just lower the boost and try it out first. The reason why I am doing is because I'll be using my Airtrek on afternoon more from now one (no longer weekend car), so I need to prevent knocking from happening and I don't mind loosing power. If I want it to be quick, I'll just crank up the boost again.

Thanks for all the feedbacks.

u're using RON97 rite??..how abt try using V-POWER RACING....or perhaps, install Methanol Injection Kit...;)....:adore::adore::adore:

yes,lowering boost will reduce knocking.as the a/f mixture get lower compression it won't ignite so easily compared to high boost.water met kit is added to a/f mixture to prevent knocking by lowering then a/f temperature.

Yes, I am using 97. Adjusted it, still staying around 0.9 bar. It won't come down. Need to adjust further.

I am going to Ah Wah's place this Saturday to collect the serviced turbo, so I'll get him to do the thing for me. It's still running very strong at 0.9-1.1 bar now with 97.

in this world there is no such things as cheap car n cheap petrol ya

yup... either expensive car cheap petrol or cheap car expensive petrol.

Lol i could run 98 but u cant get it everywhere so choose to run 95. Hell if i lost my job i would retard it for 91 :-)

Pretty much every station in nz sells 91 and 95. Major citys have alot of stations selling 98 and a few even sell e85. However theres only 1 station in my town selling 98 and the next ones about 200km away. i tuned for 95 so i dont have to worry about trying to find 1 particular station when im running low

When we compare fuel prices of other countries, we really need to take into consideration of earning per dollar on petrol price. I remembered I refueled a 3.8L car in US below USD25. And in Malaysia back then, I need to pay around Rm60 to do so on a 1.6L car.

In Hong Kong, a liter of fuel is Rm12. But do you know that their admin clerk is earning like RM8K-12K monthly.

I refueled 95. Honestly, I did not feel any difference at all for normal driving. On full throttle, only very slight drop in punch. I guess it's well worthy to trade for savings of RM1.10 per liter.
