As the subject says, my Liteon DVD 16X drive can't read DVD 9. The windows error that comes out is...

"Windows can't read from disk. The disk may be corrupted, or it is using a format that is not compatible with Windows".

Anybody knows how to fix this?

Thanks

Nobody facing this problem at all?

my beloved brotherhood ....

cant provide you the ways..
but ....lowyat.net....i 100% sure..u play the dvd u want

TypicalGuy,
I tried using DVD Region + CSS free, one of the most popular region software, but still can't work.
Tried also to use DVD Region Killer, also got prob. Still can't read also. I'm lost for ideas already. sigh.

Starwing,
Yeah, DVD 5 no problem. Only DVD 9. Windows shows this error...

and Cyberlink Power DVD 6 Deluxe Edition shows this...

sigh.

Dremel,
Yeah, using latest version of Power DVD.

TypicalGuy,
hehehe thanks for the reply. Yeah, I asked in LowYat already. The only thing I've not done yet is to flash the firmware, which I'm kinda hesitant cos if the flashing fucked up, there goes my dvd drive. hehehe

My best bet is your DVD drive is not compatible with DVD9 (dual layer) since it can play DVD5 (single layer)

No amount of cracking can fix that, perhaps flashing the firmware.

he say cant even play dvd9 single layer wor...

maybe can only play original dvd9

NO.... DVD 9 is using a more advance burn speed la... that mean they increase the burn speed onto the dvd... not bcuz of flash bios or update any dvd player.. flash bios is dangerous, better be careful in it.

cuz ur DVD is only running at 16x dude... some DVD 9 burn speed is more than tat. so u might have to change a 32x or 56x one... but my liteon can read dvd 9.... oni some cant nie...

Resorted to flashing my drive with latest firmware. Still no use. Same problem still. I'm now wondering if it's a fucking drive problem, which I'm starting to suspect so.

Sending for warranty tomorrow. Will have to see what they say about that piece of shit drive.

they will tell u their brand..works fine as no problem playing original dvd9...

cant work coz u playing pirated dvd mah

lite-on brand ok lar...

but overall still goes to LG brand....cheap and reliable...

TypicalGuy,
I spoke to them ridi. I guess let them check first lor. I don't give a shit what they say. I buy it, it has to play every form of DVD I put into it, whether pirated or not. But actually, I have 1 original Matrix 2, also can't play. Can only play the intro. However, the original Extraordinary League of Gentlemen can play. Both those dvd is dvd 9. hahahaha Fuck it la. Let them check it anyway. hehehe

what are you talking about..hehe.. the fastest DVD read/write speed that is available in the market today is only 16x .. no such 32x or 56x like cdrom..

if i'm not mistaken ..1x dvdrom read speed = 24x cdrom read speed

the terms of DVD9 or DVD5 is about the size only actually...

dvd5 = single layer = 4.7GB
dvd9 = double layer = 8.4GB

satria95.. flashing bios is the last resort la i think. based on my experience, i bought a 16x pioneer dvdrom slotted-in type somewhere in 2001.. and it cannot read dvd9 but only dvd5. I tried to use the latest version of powerdvd/windvd and it solves the problem.

Go to liteonit.com and download the latest firmware release for your dvdrom according to it's model name. Normally, firmware flashing can be done in windows environment. It should be okay unless you interrupt the flashing process. That's the only risk.

Happy flashing
