Hi guys,

Need your opinion on this...
I've change my gtti throttle body to new one last week since the previous one has got a leakage. When shifting gear from hi to low with the aircond is on, especially when come to the road corner, the engine will stop all of a sudden. The same problem also happen when the engine is in idle mode with aircond is on. If aircond is turned off, no problem. If at the same time, I switched on the aircond, head lamp, ice and the radiator fan start to spin , the rpm needle will go up & down before engine is off automatically. Timing has been increased a little bit from 1k to 1.2k but still to no avail.

Does the problem due to, faulty of the aircond fuse? bad/wrong wiring? since it only happens when the aircond is turned on.

Does the throttle body faulty? i've checked the vacuum host & it is well tied. However, after the engine is hot (in idle mode), turning on the aircond will cause the rpm needle to go up & down with some "hissing" sound...before it went off. Even, without turning on the aircond (in idle mode), when the engine is hot, the rpm needle will be moving from 900k to 1100k back & forth, which i presume is not normal right?

Does 'grounding' helpful?

From what i know, in principle, once the engine is on, the electricity power will be consumed by any device that using it such as ice, head lamp, aircond, radiator fan, turbo timer and etc, thus causing the timing to decrease a bit right?

Pls assits...

hmmm

try change ur FICD...it will help...coz my car have a same prob like that ones...but now ok...stable jer....

FICD stands for apa yer? Is the same with ISC = Idle Speed Ctroller?
Anyway, thank u very much the info bro....really appreciate it ;) ;)

oic..i've found that ISC (electronic) & FICD (manual)?...Can fit ISC to the throttle body?

hmm

i dun know ler..but if in the pic u post tu kan...pic yg 1st tu...i change that 1....

Try to check your Black Box below your glove box. That box must be there need the air-cond blower. The black box is to maintain the ideling as well make the vaccum soleniod function(supply electricity).Make sure got the black box.

You may test the Vaccum soleniod by using a mentol wired with a wire and put inside the socket. If got light then your socket is functioning and the soleniod should be functioning as well.

As Q&A with my siffu ,an extra grounding would be nice for GTti.Also can reduce the ideling problem.

The soleniod can be found need the wall of the body.Front driver seat. One hose connected to the Plennum intake(behind the throttle body)and one to the Air box.

If you done as above and still facing the problem try to change to a new one.If you hard to find the FICD aka the aircond soleniod..try to look for other daihatsu model. If still dont have, another choice to get from other cars brande such as mitsu or etc..

Hi cat eyes,

ooo you mean the black box..under the dashboard rite.... I think its there..since the aircond blower functioning well as i can feel the cool air...i'll check again..

i'll try to check the solenoid...

i'll try on 'grounding', to see if there is any improvement...

[the scenario : early in the morning start engine (idle)...after 1-2 minutes..on aircond..the idling is okay..i can say stable...Then start to drive....(assume engine is already hot)..when i come to a traffic light junction....The timing start to goes up & down..with the "hissing" sound...before the engine is suddenly off...Usually at this stage i rid out the aircond, by turning it off...:(]

tqvm :)

adjust the timming at the throttle body and the aircond vaccum soleniod simultaneously.Must adjust AFTER the radiator fan stop spinning to get nice setting.

try to track on which part the hissing sound came from.Either from the turbo site(extractor, the turbin itself or near the catyalic converter) ?or from the Aircond vaccum hose?or other vaccum hoses?or near your BOV "if u have one".

Good luck.

same happen to my damn CB23. The whole car shake nonstop when car stop and just idle. Especially if i on aircond or on my lights shake until like earthquake. RPM also inconsistant but usually at 1 max at 1.3. Damn stress lah, noise everywhere? Help me also lah.

U can try urself.Take out ur air filter and at the Carb got a screw with a spring. If not mistaken behind the carb.Tune the screw while engine is running and u can see the sound of the engine will be different.try to tune anti-clockwise.

Dont tune ur engine with headlight or aircond on.

Good luck.

another thing is... most of the times when i drive.. i can smell my petrol from inside the car... am i running tooo lean..?

I also still learning. Some info might wrong.Everybody trying and sharing knowledge.

Tq pret...

Syukran...the incosistent idling solved as for now i guess  ... As advised by pomen...i change the aircond sensor/ fuse...around RM72 (Denso)...last Saturday.. When drive with aircond is on...& then stop a while at junction for instance, the timing stays idle at 1000 RPM... But, when lets says i reach home...then..i turn off the aircond.. the timing go up & down a bit (900 to 1k to 900).... :hmmmm2: I've check all the cable.host..& it seems okay..do i need to increase a bit the timing as u said (adjust the timming at the throttle body and the aircond vaccum soleniod simultaneously.Must adjust AFTER the radiator fan stop spinning to get nice setting.)...Fyi..i've installed turbo timer...but when i turn off the engine...the turbo timer should able to count down before the engine is went off right..?however...the engine goes off before the timer can start to count...This situation sometimes happens...

The hissing sound is from the aircond vent...

No hal i can meet you...to yam cha..Amir maybe u can join also  Just name the date & time...Still lots to learn from u..
Fyi..my house very near to the Pasar Borong Selangor (opposite road..tmn equine)...

Hi canbeef,

U can ask anything rgdng charade in this forum..no problem..many experts inside here is willing to assits u..The smell comes out when u're driving or when u're idling? Any leaking at your oil tank? How about the fuel host underneath your car? Try open your hood & observe the engine head...last time.. my engine got a small tiny crack over there....The crack is so small that it can only be visible when the engine is vibrating...

Fyi,I've used to drive CB23 b4 & had experienced the same problem as urs. My experience was like this... :
1. Start my engine...& then moving......
2. Park my car
3. After few hrs..start engine again...the petrol fume can be smell coming out from the aircond vent...
4. After few minutes driving..the smell dissolve...

just my 2 cents...

Setting ur idealing while u facing the inconsistent idealing.Make sure u
turn off ur headlight and air-cond.

1st tune the Air-cond idealing behind the Manifold intake(got one white screw
with spring) then check the idealing.
2nd:if problem presist again tune the screw at the throttle body.

For the timer:need to check the wiring again.or try to installed in other car
to test if the timer working perfectly or not.
Another thing is where engine also not have enough air(suspect related to the idealing problem)

The timer should count down once u lift the car key.

Hissing sound for the aircond vent.eeem..Not sure what cause it but you can get
advise from ur pomen.2 part might came from (internal blower might wrongly fix
or the cooling coil got tiny hold "bocor".

So near your house to my workplace. nvm.. got free time we go yamcha. ;)

Any recommendations for place to check this problem or anyone with knowledge can help me DIY this? Need to cut cost. Also scared if its a timing problem.
About the air intake. I am using standard carb but i remove out the intake that leads to the fender.
I only know to turn one screw for my g100...hahahaa....which is the one below the carb behind the engine... whuts that? Where's the throttle body? Damn confused ler.. i am a newbie about cb23 ler...

Everyone here, thanks for your help.
