Bro & Sifus,
I need help.
Everyday, after 5 mins of normal driving(rpm at 2k, 80km/h), the check
engine light starts to illuminate for 2 mins & it goes off after tht. I
will only see it again each time on my next drive which is after 5 mins
drive, On for 2 mins, then it goes off. It's like a cycle. Has anyone
encounter this experience before? Izzit ok if i just leave it. I dun sense
anything abnormal feeling on the engine. Just worried if i let it be tht
the damage might get worst.
Any comments or advice really appreciated. If wana get it done, any place to recommend? i hv a service manual where they say to use a Consult(Nissan term for ECU Diagnosis tool). Which mechanic workshops hv it?
I just got my car 2 mths ago. sigh. I m driving a GTT manual btw. My car
is still stock standard. No mods or watsoever.

fark dude...tat was a lucky escape!

sounds like engine overheating? or the plugs are knacked!?! due to the heat?

its good u got rid of all the plastic covers and shit...makes engine bay ugly but good sense to keep it cool...take off the black cover for the plugs too mate...

when are we "white" GTT owners gonna have yumcha? hehehe

yea man, the engine cover makes the engine get's hot bcoz lack of air flow over the valve block, but i strongly recommend u on not taking out the spark's plug cover, this is bcoz dirt might be piled up around the spark plug bay and when it's time to change ur spark plug's, there is high chances of dirt going in ur cylinders man, well the only way is to wash off and clean the spark plug's bay before replacing it with new ones...

yeah i know...but its better without it...since i changed my spark plugs at the same time...and u dun change spark plugs often....i had the cover off since getting my car so no problems....my air filter lets dirt in more!

but yes ur rite be careful when time to change pluggies...

bad design from nissan...tsk tsk tsk....

Thanks for yr kind advice, kenzo. App it very much. But I m just curious by removing tht 'Neo' cover, it really helps cooling off the engine? the cover looks like just sitting over the engine top case only with open sides(not sealed all around). can't really explain the theory behind it. Anyone?

wait for me ah? i aint no leader lar...who is the eldest between the 3 of us? or who has the most children, makes the head start...hehehe
sure its u or alvin lar :)

Satigue,

If the check engine light ever comes on again, get it scanned for fault codes.

MrNismo,
Thanks for the advice. I just got it scanned yesterday. Found out it was my O2 sensor. the mech erased the message using tht diagnostic tool. Let me c whether it comes on again. Yesterday, coming back from workshop, it didn't light up.
Btw, u look cool in yr yellow silvia going sideways. Also in Star Newspaper. *thumbs thumbs*

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't been logging in often enough to check. So Satigue, looks like your problem is solved. Well, just for the record, I did not remove my top engine cover from day one till now and it has been about a good 6 months since I had the car. Thankfully everything is ok (fingers crossed).
But I've been trying to fit the APEXI power intake air filter into my car but most of the shops say it doesn't fit. So I found a website that says it does fit. Going to try it out myself. Any of you guys using open pod filters? What brand? (sorry to divert a little here). And yes, its about blardy time we GTT owners meet up. Been seeing quite a few on the road these days. Just sms me time and location and I'll be there....Doesn't matter who takes lead la...just as long as we all go...I think I'm probably the oldest guy here anyways :-p....haha

actually u don't need to take the covers away. its really for pple that mod their cars to a higher HP. and oso for pple who drive their cars to high temps. and since malaysian weather is bloody hot. better using oil coolers and a bigger IC would help with cooling and having an air duct in da bonnet would oso help.

as for pod filter, iam using the blitz dude...u gotta get adaptors for ur apexi pod. or custom made one...mine was custom made to fit...its the only way dude.....

good luck. if we meet up...can have a look at ur filter for u dude....

mine is still stock. need to mod to fit Apexi filters? all the while i thought it's just PnP. custom made? wah lan, so mah fan....Man, seems yr ride got alot of things done up huh. & with yr wife driving around in d white monster, i m sure kena tail gate & harass alot from all those 'look go fast' wiralution & wajalutions. keke.....stock car also kena la wei..........

piggy, my problem not solved but can say not occured yet so far. so just keep my fingers crossed. but seems tht the O2 sensor replacement is part of the R34 schedule maintenance, tht is replacement at some mileage i can't remember. a lot of cars nowadays also hv O2 sensors & they seem to breakdown or become faulty. it's just a matter of time only. just my 2 cents.

hey dude...actually i don't have much modded lah...stock as a rock...
regarding the filter, is that its ONLY PnP if u buy the adaptor kits for the R34 GTT. but those kits are expensive...custom is a cheaper way, anyways its not expensive to do so....50-80rm should get u going...

O2 sensor? where is that located? in the exhuast manifold? did u change it yet?
should get it fixed/replace mate....cos O2 sensor quite important isin't? since the ecu needs the readings for petrol/air mixtures etc etc...

oic...well I should be on the lookout for my O2 sensor too then. What is your mileage Satigue? Mind is almost 30K already. Btw, just to share with you guys, I got the APEXI filter fitted without any mods at all...its pretty much PnP. Don't need to use adapter. Just mount it straight onto the AFM with gasket in between. Just got it done today but what I notice is that I lost torque in my low end (normal driving). I guess its coz there is no reserve chamber like the original aif filter box. It also sound pretty loud when you accelerate. Something to take note if you guys want to fit an open pod air filter. Also notice the fuel indicator needle drops fairly fast as compared to before. Will see what happens the next few days after the ECU stabilizers with the new air intake. Hopefully the consumption won't be bad.
So when are we meeting up guys???

wow there u go mate...PnP apexi....dang! mine was the blitz universal fit wan...i had to get an adaptor :(

if u think the airpod is bad...wait till u get a bigger exhuast...ur low-end will be long gone....esp if it is 3-3.5"

Yes I can imagine. But my piping is still pretty standard. Just that now I feel with every gear shift, I feel like its too smooth. Unlike before where everytime I gear up, it feels really good and the power is continuous. Now its just too smooth to feel the power... plus my standard boost is only 0.5bar exactly. What is the standard boost for GTT for you guys? My sparkplugs also needs replacing...always misfiring even without boosting.
