Hey Guys !! Im newbie here and hoping that can get to know all of u better . Btw Ive been surfing this forum since ages but havent registered as user but today i got something to ask so now im a registered member :)

Currently im eyeing cars with some budget , just wanna ask u guys - should i go for PROTON SATRIA GTI , PROTON PUTRA or perhaps HONDA CIVIC EG6 ? Currently I saw some user selling those cars and very interested with them .Im only a college student but kinda power addict hehehe .

So Sifu sifu ? Any idea ? Price , performance between those cars , maintanance etc . Thanx in advance ! Nice getting into ZTH !

assumes u going to mod it? what budget and expected power? If planning turbo then get protons, if mod on NA get the vtec...

if no mod get gti.

just my 2 cent...

if im in ur position, i'll get the putra coz u can make it really beautiful with the simplest bodykits and then can transplant turbo engine or just change to 1.8 mivec (change the head)

my 2 cents

go for eg6 with b16 b18 b20 laa got alot of ppl wanna sell ... the beauty liesoutside..the beast screaming inside.. heheeh u have the look ..u have the power.. but whats ur budget anyway??

If my budget is around 35-45 can arr ?

if get GTi den no need any modification ke ? how bout EG6 ? If it already got b16a big v so what else can be done to it ?

come to think of it...
performance wise...eg b16 big V can eat any of those two(stock) for breakfast and lunch...
but u r actually investing on a car that already clocked about a decade...
personally for me interior comfort is very important...no matter how powerful a car is...if there is rattling sound here and vibrating sound there...it just pisses me offffff...my personal opinion
as for putra...if the exterior is stock...jus a normal car...but if u put in nice bodykit--skirting, pufff---a very very nice car(provided with matching skirting)
but as compared to GTi,it has the advantange of Lotus tuned suspension adn in my personal opinion...a nicer interior...
i myself drive a GTi...so i could be bias...but to tell the truth...i faced the same situation last time...
it boils down to what u wan...it is ur own money and ur r the one who actually drives the car...so think carefully before make ur final decision...
happy searching for a new soul mate...
cheers... ;)

if buy gti.. no need to mod interior & exterior! save a lot of $$$ :D only upgrade performance parts
putra.. rare stuff.. relli nice if modded.. but a bit hard to find one in a good shape
eg6.. old but still gold.. need to pay higher interest rate (being an old car).. also.. very hard to find one in good shape, esp the full spec wan

my 2c

as for me , i was thinking the same . seriously eg6 is an old car but its performance catches my eyes . But its OLD . thats y im thinking over and over . perhaps going for GTI makes me save money alot and ony have to mod some .

ok la let straight to the point , which car can use for long time ? more reliable but produce good performance ? for me i think it wud be GTI ....... What say other SIFUS ?

Personally i'd pick the one thats in best condition whether its 5 years or 10 years old. Some people can really take care of a car thats 10 years old and some 5 years old car looked pretty messed up.

I was torn between Civic EJ 1999 and Corolla SEG 2001 with the Corolla being almost 5K more expensive because its newer. Test drove both and even the Corolla was more expensive and newer, the interior sucked so badly, worst with ciggarettes stains and smell. The Civic was the obvious choice and the car condition was immaculate.

This all depends two big questions: a) Do you have SPARE cash to play mods? b) Or are you just going to depend on the loan to pay for the car?

Respective answers:

a) Get the Putra. Budget some money for either a GSR transplant, or MIVEC rojak complete with piggyback + tuning like e-Manage or Obit. Another good option is Gerard's Supercharger kit for 4G93P. Then spend the rest on brakes, tyres and suspension. Budget at least 7-8k for the whole thing. Not the ultimate mods, but well balanced, I'd say.

b) Get the Civic. Do up the tyres, suspension, interior and get the engine overhauled (if necessary). Power on the B16A is more than adequate to begin with. You'll also need some spare cash but not as much as (a). I know little about Honda's so I hope others can comment about the cost of restoration.

Either way, you'll need spare cash to restore both cars. The older it is, the more you may need to spend. Reliability is pretty much a gamble as you may unknowingly buy a problematic car. Do go through as many cars as possible until you are thoroughly satisfied with the condition. Don't buy if there's no test drive. Just my 2 sen.

If i am you i will go for EG6 but your budget is bit less...i think can only go for Putra only.

Vtec can simply tapao MIVEC i think ??

If i go for GTi , guys u think which year is the best ? becoz i heard the previous satria was better then the latest ? it seems that i hardly understand this part ? i Thought GTi was the same ?

OK let say i get the year 99 GTi , what should i mod it 1st ?

if u wanna 'mod to become powerful' without changing the engine.. EG6 is d only way to go... B16A is quite a good platform to begin with
