was just wandering if there is an exact, and transparent rule on exhaust sound? what's the maximum decibel allowed on the streets, as per JPJ's regulation? couldn't find any info from their site. now it seems that most law enforcers would just tahan any cars with LARGE exhaust, revving the engine up to redline and charging them with "modified exhaust".

Just so happened to a friend of mine driving a wira vr4 with that very large hks super drager muffler. been pulled over by the police and before they even pressed his pedal they already said to him "exhaust encik modified ni, besar sangat". being rebellious (or rather stupid at that particular time hehe) my friend insisted and challenged the policemen to press the pedal. if the sound is noisy, they can saman him (luckily the policemen were a bit naive at that time). so they pressed the pedal and said "oh, tak bising ni. ok u can go". hah, so how can we defend ourself, if we are being saman just because they believe our exhaust is noisy (unless u are using silencerless 5izgen borders).

oh btw, i passed most of jpj roadblocks with my border. they looked at the rear end and said "exhaust kecik macam ni la bagus encik". for the next few kilometres, i laughed my heart out in pain..................

If any officer, JPJ or the police, accuse you of having a "loud" exhaust without utilising the dB meter, then it's procedurely wrong. There cannot make a decision just by listening (unless they have a built in dB meter in their ears). There is a limit to exhaust sound set by the law, it's not prescribed directly under the Road Transport Act. It's prescribed under the Road Transport (Rules & Regulations) (I cannot actually remember which Regulations cos there's quite a number of them).

If there still proceed to issue you with a summon, dun bother to argue with them, it'll only make things worst. Just take the summons/order for inspection paper and if you're really confident that your exhaust dB level is below the limit, just go for inspection. The problem is, we never do check the extent of our exhaust dB level whenever we change it.

meor, like that vtec fella sure always kena saman if looking at the muffler tip size.. haha
what is the max dB value allow by the jpj?

vtec fella exhaust where got bigger than turbo cars punya exhaust?
