Hi all sifu,

Can we upgrade vr4 200 hp air flow sensor to EVO 609 MAF?
DO we need the EVO socket too? How to match the wiring???

WHY is this referred to as an 'upgrade' ??
WHAT do you wish to achieve in this so called 'upgrade' ??

Why not u ask yourself these 2 questions before doing such things...

it's not the matter if he ask like that..maybe he dunno how to use the word..nway i saw 609a a/f sensor before at halfcut shop..about rm280 with socket..

aiyaa.... i trying to teach him ma... i don't think he knows what he's doing. =Þ

Air flow sensor + ECU must go together... if u mix and match, i don't think so its compatible.

he knows what he's doing. the stock VR4 MAF is quite restrictive for air flow. By upgrading it to Evo MAF, the flow will be better. It's a good upgrade. Many have done this mods, including me :P. Please read this. http://tamparacing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42991

this is for e*terna,

hmmm... didn't know got such thing... looks like i'm the one who needs some teaching... =Þ

But doesn't it require the ECU to work properly? Same meh the MAF sensors? Later send wrong signals... die laa...

if it didn't work in the first place, the link will never exist. it has been in the net for quite some time.

common practice to upgrade to evo ecu&air flow sensor amonng VR4 to get more power

more power because of less restrictive MAF sensor? Really 1st time i hear loh... hahaha. =Þ

hehehehe
its correct u change to evo maf its better
but better in the terms tht , u r outrunning the capacity of ur MAF
let say u boosting 1.4bar with ur td04 in gsr , then u change to 609 MAF
but remember TUNING , without tuning all run already , alvin24 is right
if u just pasang :P too bad man , expect the unexpected kaboom

maybe i say it wrongly (i'm not good at explaining things). relative to small MAF, the bigger MAF allows more flow because it is less restrictive. more flow means more air and more air means more power provided the car is tuned, as what jinkl said. i say this provided you have done other mods like bigger turbines or higher boost or you have outrunned the MAF.
please teach me why less restrictive MAF won't give you more power instead of laughing at people. you provided us with no informative answer.

zaki,

i think he meant that with the 'upgrade' to 609 MAF, you will gain more response from the engine instead of increased horsepower.

guess everyone's misinterpreted everyone...chill bro... :D

Aiseh.. so sensitive meh.. I wasn't laughing at u, but rather at myself for not hearing such things before. =Þ

Anyone else can provide more information? This is good stuff... I'm also learning maa...

So means VR4 MAF are sending the same signals as an EVO MAF sensor la? Else won't be able to swap off just like that without swapping the ECU right?

It's possible. even GSR, VR-4 and 6A12 benefit from this.

a few rewiring on the A/F socket and there you go. works like a gem. no need to change ECU except adjusting some screws at the bottom of the AF.

problem is when you are running stock setup, installing the MAF will render the setup running on the lean side. the mech in your workshop should know how to adjust accordingly.

if change the 450cc injector to 510cc you will not running too lean with the 609 MAF....
i'm using this setup... your afc also no need to much adjustment and can even run without afc but make sure you increase fuel pressure a bit... the result is much more responsive engine... simple mod but you can feel the difference... for 300 buck, this is a very good upgrade...

me using evo airflow, with vr4 ecu connected to stock 4G61 wiring. no problem. engine is 4G61.

but if u install evo airflow, better make sure u have minimum 510cc injectors.

tried to push my stock 390cc injectors to 100% but still lean when using evo airflow. after change to 510cc, problem solved.

Hmmm, I'm using the 450 injector with E3 MAF and do not seem to have a problem. Infact it can be rich without proper tuning. Maybe coz Fuel pump is Walbro255 with FSE.
