Actually i did opened a thread few months back in other section but it seems like the respond is not there maybe due to wrong section posting.

And now i open a new one to hope that i get more advice and suggestion regarding aftermarket camshaft from evo 9 experience owners.

Was wondering, did anyone manage to idle properly by using Tomei 270 11.5 with a stock machine?

Was about to place a booking on HKS 272 10.8 10.2, but then was poisoned by the shop dealer to get tomei. and did few researches about this tomei cam on an evo9. but i still feel insufficient so i hope i can get my answer/ideal right here.

At the moment i didn't do much mod on my machine, just a minor catch-back like exhaust piping, aftermarket airflow filter, electronic boost controller, fuel pump (suspect changed before i bought it as recond car, should be wallbro 255lph), and fuel regulator in the future.

Sorry forget to mentioned that, of course i will do a reflash on the ecu after changing the camshaft and trying to go for 21psi if possible xD>

the idling for tomei 270 procams have no prob at all.if compare to hks both cams are quite similiar at lower rpm but at high rpm tomei 270 have more hp

even on a stock machine with the included valve spring only by tomei package?
i heard my friend said, one of his friend using the procam 260 11.5, and his car idling is not an ideal. not sure what are the factor, or my friend mistaken on his cam info maybe..

or maybe bro Jun_ek9, you already use to the super high degree and higher lift cam, tat's why the tomei procam 270 11.5 cam is still ok for u...like your nick EK9, vtec camshaft degree and lift is much more higher than turbocharged? hahaha
like those who used to racing suspension, it will feel comfortable, but for those ppl who not use to it, the car wil be like a horse!

from my research it showed that tomei 270 11.5 in power gained wise is better than hks 272, and in fact is due to the higher lifting compared to hks. and also the price for tomei, is much more cheaper than hks, i wondered why...

of course, if the idling for the tomei and hks almost the same, or maybe slightly a little bit diff, i don mind going for tomei...but if the gap is too much, then ive no choice but to choose hks due to daily drive.

if u using a stock turbo then u must use a milder cams so wont overlapping the turbo.
the idling is depends on individual.i have used it my self on my old evo 6 and no prob in indling with stock ecu.hks 272 will still have the boop boop sound when idling

Hahahaha yeah I know I need a bigger turbo but in the meantime I would prefer to change hi cam first xD...
I was thinking to do one time job for my hi cam so I can use now and also later after changing turbo. Probably looking for garrett gt30+- range. Targeted at 400whp would be the end of my mod.
But i seen in YouTube that the hks cam And the oem evo9 cam sound similar, maybe just a minor effect. So guys, any suggestion whether I should go for tomei or hks for now? Really thanks for those who replying to this thread.
Was afraid that the effect was too much and when my parent sit on it, they feel umcomfortable with the vibration of the loop lol

I am pretty sure HKS cam profile is quite outdated when compare to Tomei cam or any more modern alternative
Power wise,i am pretty sure Tomei will win

Of course tomei is better in terms of comparing the lifting to archive more Hp..but my concern is that will tomei 270 procam will have trouble idle, or it will make the drivabilitybto decrease significantly..

cam setting depend on your mod bro. If you ask me, if you still on mild mod just go for 264/272 HKS, it's good for the respond or go for GSC S1 268/268. Few of my friend is on 270/280 and they have problem with low end power unless you are on stroker kit. Not sure 270/270.

How bout the hks 272 10.8 272 10.2? And this hks set is pnp, even useable without tuning

Ive seen somewhere they have compared 264/272 n 272/272. Both have diffent usage, as for 264 it is for low end and 272 is for top end. As for tuning, it is better to retune back just my opinion.

go for the GSC cams. they are specially made for the evos. even the stage 1 (GSC S1) 268 int and ext would put a smile on your face and doesn't require valvetrain upgrades.

they are claiming that S1 is better than the older HKS/Tomei cams even though both HKS/Tomei are 272 int and ext.

GSC S1 is also able to support up to 450whp according to their manufacturer claims so even when you go for GT30 size, the cams are still usable :)

The link is http://www.power-division.com/product.php?productid=16139&cat=285&page=1 for the GSC S1 cams.

Happy shopping

Mizunori: are u using this cam as well? We shouldnt see how good the advertisement but for the reality. And yea I know that alot of ppl out there are using it and yet it is a good cam afterall. If I were to choose hks, gsc s1 would be an ideal replacement. But if for tomei procam, then I will choose tome instead of gsc s2 n s3..
But now Im also considering tomei poncam..and might be swigging my thought from hks 272 to poncam...
So about the gsc s1, I need time to do more research..

bro clan... if u wan bro mizu's GSC cam pic, hehehe buy me drink.. lolx.. joking joking...

yea bro mizu got his GSC S1 268 cam..

Slowboy: which 260 tomei u referring? Pro or pon? How much gsc s1 selli on M'sia?

i was refer to the poncam. btw both have same valve lift and duration without any upgrade for valve spring. GSC S1 price is around 2.4k below for malaysia. Singapore you can get cheaper i think.

I think I would go for the gsc s1..called up my sifu and he said that one is a good cam for Wat I'm looking for...but any idea where to get it new in M'sia?
Do u guys roughly know the price of poncam?
Hks 272 ard rm 2500-2800.
tomei procam ard rm 2500-2800 wit valve spring
Gsc ard rm2400?
