diesel questions!!!!

the 2liter one rite?

very hard to find those cars..but VERY fuel efficient!..but very noisy.. =(

i heard the noisy one is our local one, 2.0D but wat I am looking for is the export version, 420TurboDiesel. Anyhelp?

ohh...the other one?

all i can say about that one is that is much more silent..doesnt produce black smoke as much as the 2.0D does..

420TD is not officially for sale to malaysian but only for export markets. if ur lucky enuff, ask the yellow wira taxis (normally in Johor) to sell their car to you.

its quite powerful, being a 2.0 diesel and turbocharged. got a fren of mine, he coverted from 2.0 NA diesel to turbodiesel.

less noisy, less black smoke, more power and still save fuel

aik, u say 420TD is not for malaysia but why u say can find it in Johor? Hm.......maybe proton has some leftover unsale cars.

one more thing, anyone knows the spec of the 2 diesel engines?

420TD is the spec for euro. wira is known as 400 series.

wira 1.6 = 416
wira 1.3 = 413
wira 2.0 = 420

it wasnt meant for malaysian market

interesting.

zan, can u tell me more? Thanks.

what else u wanna know? have you ever driven turbodiesel vehicle?? like ford ranger, mitsu storm? must feel the power as u accelerate.

do you wonder why express buses are damn fast? they re doing 160kmh at about 3,ooorpm only.same thing goes to wira 2.0td. it gave chase to my super toring last time until i have to overtake double line so that the taxi driver wont follow...

yes, zan. but i din drive, but sat in my fren's hilux. I am a student n i find diesel cars interesting. The hilux move at 110kmj but rpm only 2.5 (around that), the engine is as quiet as a mouse. I like it. So, maybe next time i am looking to own wira 2.0TD, but now i know it is hard to find in Malaysia.Sigh................

but road tax is expensive for diesel, isn't it?

btw, not many mechanics know how to repair these diesel engines, is it?

well..its a 2litre..so yeah expensive.

diesel engines can be easily repaired by mechs. no prob. its as common to them as petrol engines.

anyone knows how to find wira 2.0TD? In the future, i might wan to own it (without asking Johor taxis to sell their cars la).

After tax reduction, actually how much is the road tax?

Fluffy, u tau all mechanics tau diesel ah especially both the wira diesel engines, wow!!!!

my mech here in klg knows about diesel cars.
off topic here abit but..when a mech gets a certificate to repair cars,he/she has learnt about both petrol and diesel cars.
depends on the mech whether he still KNOWS how to repair em'...IMO

wira 2.0 diesel nowadays are very, very cheap. about 15K i think. and its using the most basic chassis of all wiras - C95.

* wira 1.3 = C96
wira 1.5 = C97
wira 1.6 = C98
wira 1.8 = C99

just convert the engine to turbodiesel sourced from used dealers. its not easy to find one but not impossible. otherwise, go to Tampin Motor(quite far i know) and look for Ah Teck. say i sent you.

but, it wont be as quiet as the Hilux. 1st, Hilux engine is mounted on the stepladder chassis frame which is not monocoque like normal cars. 2ndly, Hilux use a lot of sound deadening material, much more than wira. this explains it to be a super quiet car.

the engine iteslf contributes to the quietness. its 16 valve using commonrail technology.

and, if u dont travel more than 5,000km per month dont use diesels. its not worth the saving. install LPG system instead.

try search googles for the meanings.

ok, monocoque means the car has only the chassis member, welded or attached together to the bodyframe.

commercial vehicles are using bodyframe bolted on a chassis frame, so called stepladder becoz they look like one.

this means, the body frame can be removed out together for easier servicing.
