Can any SIFU tell me which is more powderful?
DC5 or Wald Golf GTI

Given a choice, which one will you buy? Why?

Many thanks...!!!!

No doubt DC5, IMO G.GTi is an over price conti. DC5 I will at least... DC5 wei, Golf? Golf loh!
Anyway it's personal.

Of cos Golt GTI is more power than DC5 la.. DC5 using K20A NA and Golf Gti is using Turbo.

For me i will go for DC5 instead of golf gti.

For me to choose DC5 cos it looks nicer then Golf. Golf is too expensive to get 1.

1 of the main reason why i choose DC5 cause i still young mah ... so sit something more sporty ... if i am in my mid 30's i guess golf GTI would be my choice

DC5 anytime..better car, plus you'll enjoy more with the DC5..but the Golf GTi is not as fast as a DC5 ( make sure we're talking about DC5R here, 'kay? ), almost the same BHP, but the golf needed more than 2.0 litres of cubic capacity to get 'em, while the DC5 only needs 2.0 litres of cubic capacity the get about 200BHP ( i forgot how much actually ). You can find parts for the DC5, either standard, bodyparts or tuning parts easier compared with Golf GTi. In terms of comfort, the Golf GTi wins hands down lah..but for performance, chassis ability, and parts availability, the DC5 wins by a million mile..if you want comfort and can afford either a DC5 or a GOlf GTi, go buy a C Class or a 3 Series instead...

I'd take the Golf for Audi's DSG alone. Not to say its power output is embarassing anyway. Built quality of the volkswagen group is top notch also...
But depreciation will be crazy!

The Golf, like Clarkson said, you can take your mom to the pasar or the whole family to dinner, no problems. Then when your man hormones explode you can drive like a maniac, and it will cope... DC5 more like a permanent sporty ride. ;)

oh crap...this topic very hard for me to choose cos i love both... tested a gti b4,. it is superb!! i love the DSG both.. but i love Dc5 as well.. oh man!!... but price wise.. i will chose the Dc5... cos its less that 240k la..... but if i wan more power and wanna have fun with the DSg thingy... i choose GTI.. it really is DAMN powerful... i and love the down shift.. wuu... DROOLS

huh... like dc5... but if i got the money, i'll buy gti coz can keep till 30+++ if dc5 when 30+++ have to sell it.. coz itz only for teenagers... :p

err... brother, u wanna buy a new car is it?? how much is ur budget?? haha.. got lot dreamcars (for me la!) out there.. hahaha.. say how much u hav then we choose for u but muz let me test drive ar!! haha

Golf GTi for me... I love new tech, especially the DSG... with 0.02 seconds to change gears, it will smoked any manual sports coupe any time.

Both cars are guaranteed classics and ultra-desirable cars. In a perfect world, I'd have both; DC5 for wild track events, GTi MK5 for my daily runabout and interstate runner.

GTi (with DSG) is still an efficient manual, but with the smoothness and convenience of an auto. It is also rare; to me the Merc/BMW of the same price is comparatively underpowered and too common (and uncle-ish). Plus they lack the pedigree; 318i/C180K are considered near bottom-rung cars; while the GTi is top of the range (until the R32 is unleashed). No question about the build quality, safety equipment, fittings and durability; it's a car for life.

As for DC5...it's definately the weapon of choice when it comes to mad thrills. Track days, autocross, rallysprints...if you're into those, choosing a DC5 over the GTi is the sane thing to do. Plus it's hard to live without a daily dose of the wild VTEC.

But at this point of time, I'd steer clear of the GTi until the whole AP-WALD issue is resolved.

For a road car, Gti any day.

I use my car for shopping, highways, country roads, fetching gf go shopping and everything.

DSG means that even my girl can drive the car when I'm not around.

The fact that the GTi has better built quality speaks for itself. I spend more time in the car, so the interior matters alot to me. (If I wanted a fast track car, I might as well use the money to get an used evo)

And I dont understand why people here like to compare HP figures so much.
How often are you going to use the full 200++hp?
The drivability of the engine during traffic is the most important to me for a road going car. Which I'm very happy with the torque curve of the golf.

And talking about looks, the Gti looks good for me, and it has alot of parts/body kits available (sadly, in singapore only)

*The DC5 is undoubtly a decently fast car, but it doesnt suite my needs.

just what i had in mind, boggysv.
i wud choose the GTI MK5 also, simply because i have the MK2 and i love the way that '87 perform & handle..i know the MK5 WILL be helluva lot better.
true enuff, most of the time ppl will compare bhp 1st, even when they dun use it often.

thank you to all the sifu out there...!!!!! after all the valuable feedback

actually i have been thinking of DC5 since early this year, but right after WALD launched Golf GTI.. i started to get confuse in which one to go for... and furthermore it is not easy to find a DC5 in the market.

i think it is better for me to go test out both cars...hehe... and don buy...... .... willl wait until WALD solve the unnecessary issue first... hehe.. thanks ya!!!

Golf GTi, no question. It can do almost anything that you want it to do. You can use it everyday with no problems at all, it's comfortable, practical (4 dours), understated good looks, drives well, probably outlast you and your grandchildren, you can trash it round a track and it is just more grown up.

The DC5 is maybe 10% to 20% better on a trackday but it can't hope to compare with the Golf GTi in any other situation. Period. And the DC5's styling? Very, very boy racerish which can be good if you like that kind of thing.

And come on, how much time will you spend on a track? 5%? And how much time will you be revving the back out of your car? 10%? The DC5 is there to reward you for those moments when you feel like a hooligan and you want to go mad. The Golf GTi on the other hand just does everything.
