what's your budget?

Turbo Charge ur D16, u will get alot power with that and can compete with B16....

But still back to how much budget u thinking of putting into ur car... cos power will never enough and so do $$

if is low budget at the moment changing open port air filter (HKS, K&N) and exhaust system will help alot (throw ur cat converter away, use twin loop muffler)

If can put in VAFC will give u a few house in additional...

IF budget allow then can consider changing cam, piston, etc.

Btw manual gearbox also helps if urs is Auto now...

just my 2cent... ;)

i tot of putting in turbo kit... and do some cam stuff even the ecu...just matter of i tried ask few garages but they dont really do sohc vtec...that what i got the problem here and need some garage in pj area..coz i just back from overseas and not really sure where can make it...

putting in a turbo kit ain't cheap ler...the cost will come up to almost swapping in a B-series engine... unless u do a custom turbo kit yourself, which u might be able to do it with a budget of RM3k..

U got to let us know what you need and we can recommend the garage for you. ;)

allo bro,

ur car is auto isn't it?...if yes, my opinion is :-

1) better u change to manual trans first...then u'll feel yr car performance increase...u can control yr rpm at anytime....yr vtec can be activated more easy and faster.

2) install adjustable pulley (1 unit only)..then do advance timing for more quick respon.

3) install extractor...either 4-2-1 or 4-1...depend la...4-2-1 is for top speed....4-1 is for pick up.

4) install vtec controller if needed.

5) install oped pod air filter.

this is basic mod only with low cost...hope will help u ;)

hi...

my friend eg8 sohc vtec auto change to manual 4 months ago...still using that auto ecu until now....there is no problem for D series vtec...if for B series vtec i not sure :D

cheers...

Thanks guys, but at this stage i won't change the transmission first la coz family doesnt agree to do that... i will just mod some basic stuff first.. find out some shop about the e-manage...it is help lot more than vafc?

u sure u wanna spend >Rm1k on these gadgets? I would suggest you plan your mod. Dont waste $$$ unnecessarily. U wont gain much by installing an e-manage or AFC in your D16 without any mod.

;)

if i'm not wrong.....wanna swap transmission...engine must change also right?? cannot just change gears only....

mr haslam...

actually no need to change engine but just change gear box only...the important thing is gbox only can match with same series family only ie.

D series = D15B, D16A etc...

for B series = B16A, B16B, B18C etc...

B series cannot match with D series...

beside that u need to buy:-

1) clutch plate/bearing/clutch cover
2) flywheel
3) gear linkage
4) gear console/knob
5) clutch pedal

hmm also radiator for auto and manual also different....means must change right?

1) clutch plate/bearing/clutch cover
2) flywheel
3) gear linkage
4) gear console/knob
5) clutch pedal

Are these the only things needed for such swap?? if so i'm off to find these stuffs already....

that really opens up my mind. i never really knew the potential of D series. i mean a turbocharged SOHC D-series can compete up with a TC DOHC B16. But don't you think those hatchback with B series engine will have more advantages because they are lighter compared to like let's say my EJ7 turbocharged D16?

and also stuff like VAFC or e-manage are only useful only if your car is modified top to bottom right?

dude, u got it wrong. A TC D-series cannot compete witha TC B-series. But it can compete with a stock b-series, i.e. B16A

;)

Yo guys...

I MIA really for honey moon hahaha cos just get married and now a happy married man...

turbo charge is not a good idea to mod and the power as i say can compete with B16 and only able to compete and not wining hahaha... and plus the price is too expensive as u all know... but this is only solution for those who wish to add power to their D16 and have no intention to change to B series...

at the moment if is a normal stock D16 adding AFC or e-manage will only gain a few horse... but if u have some extra like air flow and exhaust combine hopefully and add up total to around 7 to 8 horse ... and not bad for a D series already.. remember D series is not really man for high power is for fuel saving ... but still poor man like me no money for B series engine swap and new car then the best is to try my best to gain some extra horse to the D series lor... hope u guys dun mind hahaha... of cos gadget like AFC and e-manage will give u a big help when u have some heavy mod and the original ecu cant take it and u need extra setting and option... like adjusting the air flow gain by adjusting the air flow controller ...

oh by the way from the review of TOVA they do mention before a LPD turbo SOHC civic auto that the power can match the B16A... oh is B16A stock not mod... so hope didnt confuse you.

and of cos the best mod for Honda is always DOHC VTEC... no matter from B16 - B20 or F22A is always better choice for a 90's honda cars...

cheers

Hai haslam,

Radiator for auto is double layer and manual is single layer/double layer.

Inside auto trans radiator have a copper cylinder core which use as coolant system for auto gbox oil.

So if we convert auto to manual, we just ignore that coolant system because not use anymore....just close the oil line with stopper. Means no need to change radiator.

But if manual trans convert to auto trans need change radiator.

conclusion:-

Auto -----> Manual = no need to change radiator....just ignore oil coolant line.

Manual -----> Auto = need to change radiator which have gbox oil cooler.

cheers....
