Corolla with 3SGTE

Have anybody heard of people dropping in the 3-SGTE into a 1997 AE111
corolla? I've never heard anybody doing so. FYI, the 3SGTE is a celica
engine, and goes about 200HP-260HP (2nd generation for former, 3rd
generation for latter). I saw a corolla with 3SGTE inside in *****,
front wheel drive, called up the owner, and arranged for a meeting
tomorrow. What do you guys think of it?

From what I heard, I'm doubtful that the corolla's body can handle that
engine, and dunno if the front driveshafts are strong enough or not. Any
ideas, comments or whatever? Thanks!

generally it's quite a waste to have excess of 200hp in a FWD .... you will not have the traction to fully utilise the full power of the engine ....

I'm not worried about that. What is my worries is, from 1600cc to 1998cc, there's an increase in weight, and after the transplant the car will be nose heavy. SHould I be worried of this?

yes the car will be nose heavy and tend to understeer more ... generally the 3sgte is about 80-100kg heavier than 4age 20v kuaaaaaaa ... plus with the increase in power brakes need to be upgraded to 4 pot which also adds on to the weight ... plus the engine bay also much more cramp ... need to take out more stuff just to access to some parts of the engine ..

never driven one before but sit in one lar.. even the drivetrain changed to 4wd the car IMHO still feel abit unsteady, especially underbraking, dunno where the car will end up. but then i'm not very sure lar, cuz its my first time in 4wd 3sg turbo 111, need few more time to be sure about how it handles.

Got 4 to 5 3SGTE plant in the SEG, AE110.....in kuching here.....really been sit in my friend car the 4wd mod....feel scare and kena tarik belakang tiao tiao....piu..

yea... my friend one nice is nice la.. but now many drawbacks, like driveshaft cannot tahan, me not sure about this.. maybe his is worn out already due to tear and wear? and another is you must have good suspensions, or else, nose heavy...the other thing is yes, engine bay very very very cramp... some of the parts cannot install, like the ABS system from the Toyota, there is bascially no place to mount the unit. Then changing other parts, you need to remove this first before you can do that, A lot of work, but for me, the power deliver and torque is just simply unbelievable. Easy to smoke Perdana V6 TT too kakakaka

Sooo is better get the engine is well and easy to take care...not need to mod like fitting in and look cramp lar....ehehe.......why don't ask ur friend change some other engine....ai..... god bless man...

not many la... 3S 2wd alot I think.. AE92, AE 100, AE111 AE86 all AE also got 3S hahaha, but 4wd not many ler.. change other engine ah? cannot la.. impossible go so far up already and ask people down-grade meh hahaha...many AEs i've seen/heard who have had 3S transplant, never change to anything less-powerful liao ler.. like that Ah Tet, black AE100 3s, last time, what engine also ever use, but now 3S, stay for so long already.. although FWD

last time i found 3sgte in AE92. engine so compact. juz alittle space for radiator & extractor.

it's got problem with gearbox if put in AE92, think so la.. sumore, the cc more 20cc+ only but olso couldn't get JPJ approval :(

Where is sifoo QiW ahh? His 3SGE should be a good example of how 3SGTE should fit. Looking at how both differs is just the piping, turbo and intercooler.

another problem is to mod your firewall, you may need to take up some space there, the intake manifold would be very close to it.

Got so many here in Sabah. Even here in my home town Tawau, got several of it. My friend is using it on his SE Limited. Engine sounds great and have a great and quite power also. My other friend is using it on his Celica and got some chinese fellow put it in on his FR Corona..Lari Kencang siut. Seen the Starlet King from KK in action?? That car damn
fast man. I'm planning to get a Toyota LE and put in the 3sgte also. Wish me luck :D

hi all,

i've got a fren putting 3S in his SEG,too... pretty fast though! the handling also not bad if ur suspension set up is alright... 1.6 to 2.0 normal upgrade... dont u guys notice that proton iswara,saga,wira,satria 1.3 upgrade to 2.0 VR4 or EVO series??? no 1 complain bout it also leh... proton chasis worst then toyota,that no need to say liao! :D so,for SEG owner,you guys can go ahead with 3S engine upgrade if bored of 20V or 4AGZE... ;)
