hi all Sifus,

i just bought a Rockford Fosgate FNP 2614 6.5" com set from singapore.
Installed at there.. current set up is pioneer mp3 player (5650) and ohters
all stock .. ( Wira, Rear Clarion 6x9 Ori)

ok .. i am very new to car audio, b4 i install the Rockford com set, my
rear stock speakers are very loud, with nice base (maybe to me nice, to
sifu here is lousy. .hehe)

so after researching around the net, i got the impression that a 6.5"
component set can play very loud and nice music. But when i install the
Rockford com set, it seems to me "its just so so.." what i on both, my rear
stock speakers is louder than my Rockford com set. And the bass of the rear
stock speakers is better and louder again.

but one thing for sure, the front com set are sharper, so when i put the
FAD to +16 (front), i can only hear some soft vocal and sharp voice and a
little base, but when i put the FAD to 0, the sound very loud and nice..

As you sifu knows, my rockford model is a lower end com set.. maybe because
it is cheap or some setting wrong ?

here is my question :

1. Does all component set sound soft ? or only those lower end com set like
my ?

2. Currently my com set is not connected to AMP, if i install a AMP, would
it be a big different ?

3. or can it be anything wrong with the installation ? like, maybe they
never connect the Crossover ? (if no crossover can the tweeter and mid
function?)

4. or maybe my player push all the watts to the rear speakers? hehehe

thanks all Sifu !

ha ha ha :P ... RF items are know for its power hunger... add juice to it... you'll hear them shout.

looks like you didn't do your homework well :P ;)

yoo . .thanks all Sifu

should have ask sifu here b4 i get it . hehehe

anyway .. so i guess i need a 4ch amp to "punch" the juice out ahh ..

any recommendation on 4ch amp ? hows rockford amp ? its good ? but expensive rite ?

thanks all !

check your speakers requirement before getting the amp ;)
oic ..

this is my spec

sensivity : 89db
RMS power range : 50 watts
Peak power handling : 100 watts
frequency respone : 40-22000 hz
Diameter : 6.5"
Power handling (RMS) : 50 watts
Power handling (Peak) : 100 watts
Impedence : 4 ohms (Nominal)

so what kind of AMP should i go ?
normally listen to Rock, alternative...

definitely the rockford amp will be the choice since all rockford sifu are giving you comment......... go for it...... go go rockford......hahahahaah :P

rfbies,

i think i got same problem like you. i've installed 2 way speaker at door panel .

the brand is SONY Xplod only, but my rear speaker is std for kancil. the same problem happen, rear speaker has louder sound and greater bass. the person at shop said that, the watt for standard speaker is small compared to the new speaker. that's why the sound from rear stock speaker is louderthan the newly installed speaker.

correct me if i'm wrong

bro... check if the positive and negative pole correct or not...

stupid me did that last time.. DIY...

the bass at the rear will most of the time be greater because ur boot wil act as an 'enclosure' for the rear speakers , therefore making it giv out more bass. If u were to put ur front comps in the rear , i believe you would get more bass out of it too. Anyway , u really should get an amp for your comps or u wont be able to maximise its full potential.

not a sifu, so can't recommend you an amp... ;)

look at your components requirements, mainly the rms... hmmm... if i'm not wrong.

since you're a rock head banging typo... look for amp characteristic that can keep up the pace of your music and don't forget... rf are power hungry... ;)

you stock speakers may be loud but it lack of details. the RF comp is ok. if you connect the comp to an amp it will be huge difference. i assumed you power it with your built in HU amp whych is 25w rms (roughly). usually 100 - 150w rms is better.

Woww.. thanks all man,

so if my Component set stated 50W, 100W peak, which should i look for? 100W ? if the 4 channel amp stated 50wx4, means 200W ? actually if the component set stated 100W, is both side 100W or 100w per side ?

actually i not so into head banging, i dont like techno... but like rock, slow rock, alternative, for example, Third eye blind, goo goo dolls, collective soul, smashing pumpkins, matchbox 20, nirvana, gun and roses, Foo fighters...

he is referring to component not sub woofer.

kicker is better than RF in terms of quality and sound.

if you wire positive to negative to amp it will be 180 degree out of phase. it still produce sound. if your speaker sound is not balance then you can do this.

as for peak power it is usually the highest power the amp can produce. Not a good way to evaluate amp. usually ppl will go for RMS which is usually half of the max power. if it state there 50w rms X 4 means that each channel will get 50w rms.

rfbies,
my Xplod are not using any amp. my HU is standard from factory, i think it doesn't has any amp.

anyhow, to all sifus, is it SONY speaker is good for beginner like me which has small budget or better go for other speaker. bcoz, i'm planning to buy new speaker to replace rear stock speaker. which brand is good? SONY or better choose other brand which might be cheaper.
another question wats difference btw 6x9 speaker and 2 way or 3 way speaker.

oic ... means i got to check the wiring .. hmm .. maybe ask ppl . or any sifu here want to help me ? heheheh

so let say now, my component set is 50w / 100 w peak which should i refer to ? 50w? and this 50 w is one side or both side ?

as for amp .. if stated 50wx4, meaning 50w x 4 different thing rite?

let say i want to power up my Component set, meaning i will use up 2 x 50 w at my amp rite? then got remaining 2x 50w can punch the Sub woofer ?

thanks all !
