Hey there guyz

seems to be in the market there are variety of Intercoolers with all kind of size and diameters
My question is, how to choose the right I/C for out right settings, i know the scope is big...but how can we get to the closest
how to avoid to have Lag in turbo with not using extra big and how does core helps in I/C

appreciate all the Sifu comments

ermmm ok....i am thinking of getting a gt30r
engine spec...2.2l, vg30 87mm pistons, 280cams
currently running an ar.50 garret but not sure whats the trim but its not the ball bearing turbine
beside its and evo 3 engine
n currently i am using a TRUST twin core I/C

consider smaller than 66.5 mm of yours..
hope this new one will not torn my i/c into pieces..

well my trust I/C is for evo3
the design is the same as the evo3 standard intercooler but ofcourse it's much more ticker

Keep the intercooler bro. It's sufficient for ur setup.

ok tnx...but i wonder why some of them will put so big intercooler in their machine, doesn't this LAG's the machine....
and between how effective is the water to air intercooler...any idea whats the pricing like

For some peple, the intercooler size help boost their ego rather than the machine's performance.

an intercooler is measured based on the efficiency. Hence , not always bigger is better...

poor efficiency intercoolers are usually not able to hold the temperature down, so it'll generally rise along with the RPM and boost... not good. And these characteristics are usually found in the CHINA made intercoolers, though cheap, shinny and big, but they don't deliver.

Better quality ones from HKS, TRUST, APEXi, Garrett, Spearco, etc are proven all around the world...for keeping your engine cool~

Measure your intake air temp and during a dyno session or a run around Sepang SIC, the results will tell you if your current intercooler is sufficient in handling the heat.

then what about those intercooler's like dry ice or water to air intercooler...Pro & Cons

Water spray intercoolers is a proven technology. Example, Evo 3 engine comes with a water spray intercoolers. The spray nozzles are mounted on the bumper. i would say the stock intercoolers are definitely sufficient for stock condition engine + bodykit(bumper). But things changes as u start to modify.

Theory is simple. As boosting, pressure begins to build up along the intercooleer piping + intercooler. Temperature builds up as well. High temperature air = low density = less oxygen. So, boost higher, get a more efficient intercooler lor...

calculation can be made. But the calculation are mostly based on ideal condition where all the environment factor are controlled. At the end of the day, it depends also on the efficiency of the intercooler that is determined by, fin design, material, material thickness, in/outlet diameter of the intercooler, interecooler piping size and etc. Size does matter. But efficiency matters more.

had a recent case posted. A waja GSR having problem with boost after installing a walbro fuel pump. tried alot of method and solutions suggested. Finally, problem solved after removing the signal light for the cool air to reach side mount intercooler that is hidden.

Finally, i'd say that the intercooler size don't affect so much of a lag... Turbine size do. I'm on a 1.6 BOT with EVO 3 intercooler + piping. Cause last time use EVO 3 engine in my car, since the intercooler piping is already there, use only lar... Well, not as bad as I've expected in terms of lag.
