Which one would you recommend or select if it was time you changed the tires on your own car?

- comfort
- road grip (hot & wet conditions)
- road noise
- threadwear

There's always a compromise when you choose a tyre brand. First rule of thumb, if you want good grip, generally you're gonna sacrifice road noise and threadwear. A grippy tyre means there's more friction on the road and the threadwear will be slightly higher, thats for sure.

From my personal experience, the Yokohama ES100 is one hell of a dry weather tyre. Grippy in the dry and pretty decent in the wet. Its a v groove tyre and will cut thru rain on the road. Only problem is, its very very noisy on the highway when you're doing 110kmh.

depends on ur driving style also... no point if u put a slick tyre n drive slow right?? n also how often u drive it.. some tyres cant last long..

lets say i drive @ an average speed of 110 kmph...
not that fast, but not slow also ler..

when ppl say "hard" and "soft" tires..what do they mean?

I'm actually looking for a quiet tire....

which one from the list of brands above has a quiet tire?

I'm currently using Goodyear NCT 5, which is a okay tire. Perhaps something abit quieter from my NCT 5 ?

soft compound is AD07...wear out faster than sime tires (hard compound) which has alot less grip.good for drifting and can last bout 2 yrs.

AD07 i give it 1yr daily driving

my xperience...
for quite tyre... go for yokohama db
grip... ad07 and gyear F1
rainy.. gyear f1

bro, i have nct 5 (stock), yokohama and BFgoodrich G-Force. The NCT 5 to me is the worse and likes to 'sing' a lot.

I'm currently running Yokohama A.Drive R1 for my car after changing the old worn out Dunlop SP Sport 9000 & i'm pretty satisfied with the grip, handling & threadwear of these R1s.

i looking for ecomomic 1 but not bad for 15"

any recoment ??! $$$$$ ??!

i think i've been answer this same question all over again.. for umpteen times.

anyway... i would still go back to falken azenis st115... grippy on both dry and wet... and quiet. But not good for track use... wears off very fast.. dunno la.. maybe back during bt3 times... bt3 surface is very rough....

but nevetheless... sitll falkens for me.

Is there any truth to this statement...?

"If I install 17" rims, I will have to use "hard" low profile tires. If I use the 17" rims with "soft" low profile tires such as Michelin, then the chances of rim damage & tire bursting is higher"

A tire shop told me this,...

Please comment and advice....

The ST115 would be my next choice. I've heard some good reviews about that tyre too.

However, i'm also keen to switch back to profile 65 tyres. Currently using 186/60/14 and most of the time i will scrape thru the bumps. Either i switch to 195/55/15 rims and tyres or 185/65/14 tyres only. But Falken doesn't produce profile 65 tyres for ST115. Which one do you guys reckon is higher in terms of ride height?

Well, i havent encounter the problem u stated above before. All this while, i've been running 17" for my car & fitted various brands of tyres on it. Havent encounter dented rims (except hitting curbs or accidents) or tyres burst while driving.

My conclusion will be it depends on the quality of the rims which u choose for ur car & ur driving style. If u r a rally "replicated" driver where u dun give a damn to potholes & road humps, then by all means avoid going for 17" for ur car. :)

i'm using sumitomo htr200 now, and i'll recomend it to just about anyone who drives normally on the road

great dry grip: i can corner alot faster without worrying at all, i had it like 30 months now, never let me down once.

decent wet grip: i never really go fast before in rain, but they cruise pretty well at 80km/h on wet road, hitting water puddle at 80 isn't a problem if you are holding your steering.

tire noice: didn't really felt any, maybe its my car too old and loud, or maybe it really is quiet. my mom's wira's continental tire damn loud lar..

treadwear: damn tahan this tire, 2 years+ looks like it still got 3 more years of life. maybe its just because i put them in the front only, so they only worries about cornering :D

and.. its cheap.

I'm not the pyscho driver type, but I do drive fast from time to time.

Just wanted to see if that statement was true or not..

That if I install 17" rims, then I will need to match them with hard tires to protect the rims.

How do you guys rate Toyo? ...hard or soft
