If you dont have money.. ???? Right know I have 3 frend like you.. Only have 2 choice either do basic set-up or built it slowly... step by step...

1) Change HU & get decent comp set..
2) Find good 4ch amp + 1pc 12' Sub
3) E/cross & decent cabling (RCA & Speaker cable)

Actually, I experienced the same dilemma as you (Working on a very very veryyyyyyyyyy basic budget) years ago. What I did is that I started with a tweeter (the B-52 type, only RM15 that time) provided that there are already front speakers. The rule is that the tweeters and mid-range speakers should be at almost the same distance from the listener. High frequencies from tweeter travels faster than mid range frequencies from the mid-range speakers. So, if u have tweeters only without mid-range at the front then it is likely that your music sounds unpleasant as the signals are unaligned.

It is possible to bring your rear speakers to the front (I think there are 6.5" speakers) and then drill a hole at the door panel.Probably this is the minimum cost for bringing the music to the front. I assume there is no front speakers at all (so can't play with the HU's fader). Not satisfy, that means spend more $$$ loh.

Save more for better speakers and amp(at least 2 channel for your front comp/coaxial speakers).:_: I will opt for amp/speakers first because spending in the region of RM1'000 will not produce much difference in comparison of changing a HU from the OEM that costs that amount. Later then only I change the HU follow by SW and amp(if u have the budget). There are many ways to go about of upgrading but one thing to bear in mind is that save enough to buy someting u are going to keep/satisfy u for a considerable time. Remember ICE is something that will run into a region of thousands $$$$$$$$$$$$ for a complete set up.:emoticon_U:

Of course u can move your rear speakers to the front and install them at the door panel but u have to get a pair of grills to protect your speakers since originally there is no grill/hole at the door panel. Cost of tweeter depends on budget. You can find some decent ones that cost from RM60 to RM200 or even into the region of RM2'000. Less than RM20 (cap ayam) also got but just a warning is that they may not be lasting since your tweeters are likely to be exposed to the sun. Installation probably costs from RM30 to RM80 depending on what kind of shops. Professionals (those that win many IASCA championships) usually charge higher. My advice is try to spare at least RM100 for this veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy basic set up. Hope the system satisfy u for some time otherwise the money u spend on tweeter is wasted.

ic2....
my door panel oledy got the grille and hole....just no speaker theree.
ermm...would it make much diff though? i mean......
moving the speakers to front+tweeter?
cuz i was planning on tinting my car....
i live in ampang area btw...any shop suggestion guys??

~cheers~

Oh I see. This must be a 2nd hand car. It is very difficult to give good suggestions without knowing your budget. My previous suggestions were based on that u just want the music comes from the front compartment instead at the back. Adding the tweeter and with the rear speakers move to the front will not give vast improvement but only satisfy what u want i.e. music coming from the front. Improvement in music quality is minimum but better than your present set up. Otherwise another alternative is to get a set of reliable coaxial speakers at the front replacing your ori speakers. I believe the cost will be higher. The rule of thumb applies (Minimum budget, minimum improvement) Sorry, I don't reccommend shops but try to avoid those that insist you to buy this and that without even knowing what u want and your budget.

let say...if i opt to built it slowly...
let say in a budget not more than 100
would it be a gud investment?
changing HU would definitely be better...
but it certainly wont be around 100 for a decent one rite ;)
plus i dun really listen to cd anymore....heheh

:emoticon_U: Better save your RM100 and save for more say at least RM500 and invest in a better set of speakers because changing speakers usually produce biggest difference compare to changing HU. Changing HU will cost even more.

but im not really a ice enthusiast persay...
jus want a slightly better quality...
cuz rite now the sound is a bit "pecah" in the back...
just wanna get rid of tat and....maybe cun kan sikit lagi...

Surelah pecah, you go and crank up the volume more than your OEM speakers can take. That's the reason of the cracking sound. I guess u want more bass so u crank up the volume. You say cun sikit means in what sense? Better bass or treble? SQ? SPL? Running a shoestring budget will not bring u very far. So tone down your expectations to match your budget. Want to get rid of the pecah sound, either u turn down the volume and adjust your bass/treble. Otherwise, invest in a set of better speaker and then add amp later. I think that's all I can say. Installing tweeter is actually a short cut to very minor improvement. Remember, investing in ICE is something quite costly to everyone.

how much you want spend must have a buget?

lowest 1st step upgrade = Front component speaker rm300-rm500, get a good good set 1time finish then next time upgrade slowly no need to change and waste money anymore.

if you just buy a tweeter you will still go and change it next time.:_:

He has only RM500, what kind of HU he can change? A HU equipped with a low power MOSFET amp I think will cost at least RM700 and above (maybe can find one cap ayam HU in pasar road) He wants quick improvement with the lowest budget.
