hi everyone...

i am new user and just enter the forum..
actually i planing to buy a 2nd car especially 2 liter car such as Honda CF4, Perdana V6 and of cause BMW E36.
just would like to know, which this car the best among the rest interm of fuel, maintenance, and etc.
pls do help me as i need to feel the experience to ride in 2 liter car.

pls help me everyone. :biggrin:

okay among all the 3 cars u have there.. bmw is definetely the highest maintance... its a bmw.. its known for being expensive to maintain.. between the honda n perdana v6 i think the V6 is slighty lower..

And if i'm correct E36 doesn't have a 2 litter engine.. its only a 1.8.. the FC for all 3 cars shouldn't differ much.. correct me if i'm wrong... if you have the cash go for the bmw.. honda CF4 isn't too bad a car... but isn't all that powerfull

hi dino,
thanx for the reply..
anyway, i heard some of my frens said that, the bimmer especially e36, 318, slighty better than V6 and honda interm of power and fuel saver, r there true?
and the maintanance for V6 is higher than E36 compare to CF4.
r there true or not.??

whats ur budget actually bro?

a cf4 will cost u around 85k above, a v6 is around 45-70k++, and an e36 318i will set u back in the range of 50k to 80k, n thats all depends on the year n few additional stuffs...

frm my view, on the power wise, the e36 is kinda like sluggish... the maintainance is moderate n the fuel consumption is juz nice for a Bimmer.. but it is a beauty..
unless if ur a mod head, thinking of putting a 2.5,2.8 litre, n m3 or a nissan RB's in it... thats different.. with big wide rims, it looks awesome...

n a cf4, hmmm... its nice, potential mods, cool interior n gadgets, and a gud engine! n nice design too.. reminds me of an accord euroR.. hehehe..

a v6? its a gud malaysian car A+, u can add xtra horses to it (frm the mitsu's family), but its all depends on u bro.... what do u like best? comfort? ++ bad horses? style? speed? etc...:biggrin:

perdana or bimmer for me. driven the 328 and it packs a punch. perdana is cheap an newer.

E36's come in a number of displacements. 318, 320, 325, 328, etc and its maintenance is not that bad actually. The perdana will cost a bomb if the gearbox shows its ugly side, same for the CF4... and i've heard a few unfortunate stories about this. But again, i can't really confirm if the stories are true.

Nwayz, if its was me, i'd probaly go for a E36 325i. Price is reasonable for a Bimmer : 60K-70K depending on year and condition. CF4 is still on the high side and the perdana... well theres too many of them on the road... :tongue:

i think go for the Honda CF4 for fuel efficency and reliability...and get the BMW 325 or the 328 if were u ...

i wouldnt even think of gettin a perdana if have to choose between the above 2 cars...

you mean this model of cf4? whoa.. i'll take this anytime wei...

but then again... E36 has very ganas looks too.. if moded with the right stuffs.

difficult choice between the honda and the bimmer. But i guess i go for the honda for cheaper maintenance.

bmw

I will go for a perdana v6 as it's newer & parts is available...

I personally dislike e36..I'd rather get a e46 or wait for the price
to reduce....It's a stunning beauty...

i'll go for cf4...get the f20b 2.0 dohc vtec...woohooo!!...

p/s: e36 325i should be awsome too..dont buy the 318i..(quite u/power laa)...

if money is not a subject, i wud go for for Honda Accord S84 (chassis CF4 for local, the one pictured by zephyrd is Accord Ascot - JDM). some ppl may say its the less popular accord, losing ground since SXV20 Camry was launched in 1999.

E54 V6 is okay, mind you the chassis had been designed more than a decade ago in 92 mitsubishi eterna. handling, space, power so-so in this group. watch out for depreciation as supply is high comapre to E36 and S84.

E36 has no 2.0 model and the 318i is a bit underpowered meaning also slurpss at fuel pump. one nice thing about the 3 series however is its a FR...niceee..:D

perdana V6 also a gas guzzler as V6 engine + auto tranny + heavy body = lazy to move..

my choice
1. accord S84
2. BMW E36 (325i also cheap nowadays)
3. Perdana E54 V6.

try also
1. Camry 2.2 SXV20 (budget 85-90K)
2. merc W202 C200 (budget 100K)
3. Alfa 156 2.0 selespeed (budget 90-120K)

If you think you can handle the maintenance, go for the E36. One of the best handling chasis you can buy. Like has been stated, get a 325 or 328. Should be within your budget.

hi bro..
thanks for the reply.. and all of the member's thanks again..
really appreciate actually..
ok, for me, my budget only RM70k below and not more than that as i have a lot of commitment .
heheheh :biggrin:

anyway, bimmer sound nice and nice look, by the way, comparing 325 and 318, which one is the best in maintenance, power and economy same goes to the tag price.

and honda cf4, actually, not much in the street right if i'm not mistaken. and how bout the maintenance, such as gear box and etc.

:rock:

just talked to a fren this evening. he had driven a E36 318i with 17" rims. he traded that for a V6, but he found out the V6 is more thirsty than the BMW.

he sold the V6 a few months ago, and now drives the latest ACV30 Camry 2.0. he likes the fuel consumption, and he expects the maintenance to be low. escpeially, when there is no timing belt.

1. Maintainence -
Lowest = V6
Medium = CF4
High = E36

2. Auto Gearbox Realibility = All not reliable, shorter lifespan

3. Performance, power to weight ratio, topspeed
Lowest = E36
Medium = V6 & CF4
High = None

4. Fuel Consumption.
Lowest = None
Medium = CF4 & V6
High = E36

5. Value Buy for every $1 spent
Lowest = E36
Medium = V6
High = CF4

6. Parts Difficulty & price
Lowest = V6
Medium = None
High = E36 & CF4

I think these facts are not quite the truth... I mean, how could a beemer E36 be less powerful than the other 2??
