dear sifus..
just want some opinion..
i was actually looking for sgti initially but was poisoned by my friends for a bmw

let me fill you in with some info on why im getting a ride:
1.im working in genting, lots up&down hill action - more conv for me to go back home without skyway&bus
2.my wira was kidnapped by my sis&turn into her kiddie mobile
3.wan to have a ride so i can go holidays with

reason of a sgti or bmw e30:
1.both cheap (my budget)
2.sgti coz new& easier to maintain
3.e30 is rwd and classic - "drift"

potential problems:
1.lots or cold engine starts
2.maintenance, specially battery and brakes
3.old car and local car issues due to age

hi RST,

from the 2 e30 in ur option, the main diff on these 2 cars is

1.engine M20 & M50 2.0

M20 is older engine which is using in e30 (1983-1992) & e34.
125hp
6 cylinder 12V
timing belt

M50 is newer engine as it is used on E36 & late E34 (1992-1995)
150hp
6 cylinder 24V
timing chain
single vanos

conclusion:
M20 should be obsolute from chop shop sooner due to it's age
M20 parts might be cheaper than M50 as it's older
M50 has vanos & higher hp
M50 running timing chain,lesser maintenance

2. Bodypart

This is very subjective,it's all depend on what u like

That's all I could remember for now, hope it could help & I leave sgti for others

cheers

My brother had a Sgti wt a 4g93 in it few years back... nothing to shout about... just another proton!! handlin by lotus and all is rubbish... no offense to Sgti owners. it can be a fun car if ur just looking for some extra power runs, even the standard 1.8 engine could give you some "kick"... depends on wat ur looking for in a car, or wat you want the car to do for you... Again its personal preference!!

M50 will be the one you want to go for... more reliable as you want to travel long distance!!

The challenge/bet will be finding a mint cond E30... "nawtyboy" from Malatbimmer found a brilliant E30... im sure he paid top dollars, but looking at the car... im in love wt the E30 again!!

e30 - u need lotsa time, patience, money and heart to really rebuilt it to its pristine condition. i am a fan of e30 too, in fact i own one for 3 months..great engine, great handling, very solid car for its age.. have to give up due to unable to maintain 2 cars at anytime (cos no money maa ), i had a e30-320i 6 banger. in fact i have to find many wear and tear parts everywhere, hunting high and low for it, if i have the time i will certainly keep it but i cant as i am running around.

sgti - yeah, i own one too but not exactly a gti but a satria then transplant to 93p rojak... fun car to drive around town/urban areas, can whack corners like nobodys biz, can sprint in front of traffic lights without really care about da engine kong, can whack in autocross/sic without having temp problems... well nothing to brag about a satria, its just another PROTON  but its a hassle free car/engine, only change oil and filter

get a BMW laa, no matter how old a BMW is, IS still a BMW = da ultimate driving machine

fred is bmw drifter :driver:

BMW= Broke My Wallet.. hahaha just joking..

peeps,

not to say anything specific.......but heck, a bimmer is a bimmer and a SGTI is so cool in it's own ways toooo......just my 2 bahts!
