[QUOTE="f8., post: 99646, member: 541"] jun japan always uses trust/greddy turbos simply because they get it for free. without offending anyone, it is generally acknowledged that reliability wise, garrett and kkk are pretty much the top names for car turbos. for response, the king is ihi especially with their ball bearings but reliability is down compared to garrett. actually, hks is a very very big company in japan, and definitely the most cash rich in terms of all japanese tuning companies. there is a reason why they chose garrett over ihi, kkk and mitsubishi when they wanted to release their own turbos. quite frankly, there are some things hks do where they are not really restrained by budget simply because they have the backing. if you look at some of their project cars like the altezza and drag gtr's, you will see what i mean. no other japanese tuners do it the scale hks does and also, as far as i know, hks is the only tuner who has ever gone into f1 and came up with their own f1 engine. i'm not saying i agree with a lot of their tactics but simply, technically speaking, they are very good at what they do. and there is a technical reason why they stuck with garrett all along. for inline 6's, people use single turbo if they are restrained by cost. going twin usually means more money in terms of manifold, crossover pipes, wastegates(2), load sensing, twin entry intercooler and tuning/engine management. however, the most powerful inline 6's in the world are twin turbo. the single turbo ones do get big figures, but never as much as what 2 gt3245's can do for example.
