B8 180bhp upgrade

guys.
on behalf of a fren doing 323 4doors project. all bodyparts are completed including the fearsome & gorgeous front 210 bodykit.

the problem now is difficult to get 210 halfcut/engine....many 180 versions at halfcut shop.
so now he decide to drop in the 180 engine. i want to know popular spec & mods among mazda B8 guys on their 180 engine to increase power. my fren is targeting around max 220bhp only.

- what the 180 & 210 injectors cc? can 180 injectors support 220bhp?
- the 180 ihi is not ball bearing and slightly smaller than 210 ihi right? can the 180 ihi
hold up to 220bhp?
- as for internals...what are the differences? does 210 have major internals difference like cams spec and pistons materials?
- what about ecu tweak for 180 to get 220? apexi s-afc enough or not?
- better stick to ihi 180 to get 220bhp or use mitsubishi VR4 - TD05 series?
- the best gearbox for 180

hi im no expert...but would like to drop something...maybe it can help a lil bit...

im not sure about the injectors...but i think it's the same as the 210 model...just the 210 cam profile is a lil bit higher...and its 500gram lighter...

i heard mitsu guys r also searching for IHIVJ23 turbine...thats the standard turbine for 210...so i think getting a 210 turbine is better...suits the engine better i guess...it comes wif the same engine some more...hehe...

about the gearbox...ppl r using b6 turbo gearbox...2 wheel...some use tx-3 1.8 gearbox...im using that one...so far ok lor...

again, im no expert...just wanna drop something that i know...hope it will help a lil bit...good luck dude...

just to share abit but im not good in all this so hope all the sifu will gv u some idea.......
as wat i know is the turbine 210 is much bigger then 180 ori inj 210 is 460cc 180 is smaller the interner sorry lah dont know how to exp but 180 if want to go bout 220hp i think u got to change turbine loh a lot of 180 owner like to change there turbine to vf10,8 ...... i hv seen 1 with vf 10 with good tuning can hit 210hp loh on wheel....... n there is 1 180 with vf10 also hit 240+++ lah so hope this all can help btw g box tx3 or lantis 1.8 will do...

as for gbox...some said the key to extract best B8 engine performance is the gbox.
so better use B6 2wd?
 
Me no expert also but just like to share some infos. Many B8 users use VR4 Injectors when upgrading to VF10 / VF 8. Also SAFC to control the fuel. Too rich, your car will be sluggish. Too lean, SAYONARA to your engine.

Gearbox - B6T is the best. The best of the best is B6T gearbox with LSD. Good luck in finding one of those.. Extinct species maaa..

u can say that again about the b6t lsd gearbox...extinct species...LOL...but someone said that using lantis v6 gearbox ok gak...yeke?
 
i'm also not an expert but know lar something,

injector- 210 and 180 are different,

210 - 310 cc
180 - 330 cc
best get 210 injector , pnp, same resistance,
since 210 injector hard to get, vr4 injector is the good choice,
safc is a must when use bigger injector,
Egt to monitor your combustion chamber.

many b8 kaki upgrade their turbo use vf10 hybrid,
compressor vf10,exhaust side vj20, rebore internal wasgate to 23 mm,
or get a external wastegate.
this turbo pnp to BP26 header.
if use tdo5, must do a mod to the manifold or get a banana...

many internal parts 210 is different from 180, sodium filled exhaust valve,
different profile cam,semi forged piston, lightened crankshaft,

best gearbox is subjective, but for me is B6T 2wd with LSD. can use tx3, lantis,
626, but the gigi cant tahan the big hp. get a racing clutch for the best result.
 
Agree. Some people like TX3`s gb..they are some who like 626... Each gb has its own pros and cons. One of the solution is, - you can always `kacuk` your gearbox.. hehehehehe
 
As for the injectors, someone told me BPD injectors have 3 wires whereas BPT have only 2.. true or not?
 
im not sure la powercable...hey, anyone knows what the 5th gear ratio for lantis gb?...im a long distance driver...so if the ratio is better, thinking to do something about it...i just got my 3puck racing clutch from exedy...hehe...cant wait to install it...but hav to run in first =(

i dont know whats the ratio for lantis 1.8 but im using it, travelling at 100km/h is at 3000 rpm
 
Mine is like 3000 rpm = 116km/h. something like that... I think 626 gb suits long distance travel.
 
hurmm...can i just like alter the 5th gear?...i hav to do something about it...since the patrol is getting much expensive...i think i hav to try first in wat speed if 3kRPM...
 
My friend did just that. Took the 5th gear from the 4WD gearbox of the halfcut.. Mmm, i think it's the 5th gear. Have to check with him on that...

the rods are arranged GTR-BP-B6T if you noticed the b6t are pretty beefyer then the bp
