Hi Sifu's,

Got a quick question on the ATF for my V6... I've been using the Penzoil Semi Syn ATF for my car but i think it's not really suitable for my GB. Wanna try the Toyota Type 4 ATF as advised by our sifu's here... Can i know how the ATF looks like? Is it the one in the pic below? Please advise... Thanks siifu's....

the owner's manual refers to SPIII.

Diaqueen is for Mitsubishi GB bro.. not toyota fluid..

yea bro... but what's the recommended ATF for V6? i think it's type 4 right? never tried diaqueen before... will the ATF suit perdana v6 gearboxes?

I think many people use Toyota Type 4 ATF in Perdana V6, but why?
I always stick to recommended ATF i.e. SPIII, either ori Proton SPIII or Qiaqueen SPIII.

Toyota states that T-IV is only suitable for cars that requires T-II or T-IV and nothing else. Even Type T and Dexron III cannot use T-IV. Why would you want to pour it in your Mitsubishi gearbox is beyond me. Just use what the manufacturer specified, not what the mechanic bawah pokok says unless he used to be the Chief Engineer of Mitsubishi.

Yup it is not about what brand is good for your auto GB...it is about what type of oil grade that u should use...same concept with engine oil like 10/30, 10/40, 15/40 or 20/50...it is better for u to use what type of oil recomended by manufacturer and not by what brand suggested by people...
if i not mistaken V6 should use Dexron III / type 3 oil coz most of mitsu auto GB using that grade of oil...

u could try toyota type4, but make sure its original, there are lotsa fakes in the market nowdays.

V6 owner's manual says use SPIII. Tried Penzoil ATF with SPIII specs... but, my GB only runs smooth within the first 3000km... after that, the GB doesn't feel that smooth to drive... so, i tried the toyota type 4 instead... as recommended by the V sixers... the GB has been performing quite ok... i usually change my GB oil every 10,000... but, after looking at this thread... i'm getting scared man... i think i'm gonna switch to diaqueen ATF... any idea where can i buy the ATF? please advise... thanks again...

quite sure that's Diaqueen SPIII rebrand. again, check the manual?

since there is alot of fake toyota type4 in the market, some pv6 users are sked &
changing to diaqueen...if not mistaken NeurOne is using it, try asking him.

previously when i using AT on my perdana, i had tried many type of ATF, Diaqueen, Eneos(from japan), Proton, Valvoline(super exp), type T-IV, end up 200k mileage 5Gear box ko, the biggest enemy for AT is heat, for me i don't think Diaqueen work well for malaysia weather even with ATF cooler, normally GB get over heated while engaged and the vehicle not moving. the Qiaqueen fluid losing the viscosity and heat up those clutch therefore we feel no engagement at all. Why there's a lot people recommend toyota type T-IV for mitsu GB? it meant smoother shift when using type T-IV due to more stable viscosity for T-IV. Try after comment!!

lol! in fact, it's true la bro... been using Penzoil SPIII for my GB since i bought my perdana... it feels ok within the forst 3000km - 5000km... after that, the GB feels a little rough... then, swithched to toyota type T 4. it definitely performs better than the Penzoil but still feels rough after 8000km... so, looking at these comments, i'm juz worried... hopefully my GB don't kong la... now only a year since i bought my car... dun wanna spend another 5k for GB replacement... LOL! :banghead: so, as advised by our sifu's here, i'm gonna try usding the Diaqueen SPIII and see how it goes... hopefully it fells better... and, i flush my GB every 10,000km... just to make sure that all the ATF gets drained out from the GB... why do V6 GB's are such a pain in the ass? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

probably someone suggest type-IV toyota atf because its a bit cheap compare to other...

Well, I have been using Diaqueen SPIII ATF for more than 1x,xxxkm now and the next change is due soon. I don't encounter any loss of power or gearbox issue as faced by some.

that's what exactly i'm gonna do... drain out the type 4 from my GB... do a complete GB flush... add the diaqueen ATF and test run for the 1st 10,000km... let's see how it goes...

Hi bro, if it isn't clear already - Toyota type-IV is not compatible with SPIII. Their lubricousity, heat tolerance, etc. Don't use it on a Perdana if it's not meant for the Perdana. That's why a lot of people complain about the GB for the Perdana - wrong oil usage. Old skool mechs will say "CAN ONE LA" but insist on SPIII.

Mitsubishi DiaQueen SPIII sells for RM104 at the spare parts shop nearby my house. 4L can and is a bloody nice oil. Doesn't overheat easily compared to Proton OEM SPIII oil. If I'm not mistaken, all Protons before the Savvy use SPIII for the autos.

Btw, if you have the budget, consider Motul SPIII. It's quite premiumly priced but outrageously good.

Mitsubishi and Protons cars 'duplicated' from Mitsubishi should use Mitsubishi SP3 spec.
not Dexron or Type-4 or Mercon or etc..
while u can try using other types of ATF different from SP3 (any oil will lubricate), it might not be the same as SP3 spec.

i previously used Proton SP3, Mitsu Diaqueen SP3 and now a loyal user of Pennzoil Multi Vehicle ATF.
i always advise people to use SP3 spec, but if u wanna try different spec ATF, its up to you..
for me, i'm afraid it will not match Mitsu's requirements and breaks the gb..

Pennzoil is good enough for me, but if u wanna try better/more expensive ATF, u can always try Amsoil, Royal Purple, Redline, MOTUL, Eneos or any other multi vehicle ATF that have SP3 spec..

anyways, at the moment i'm saving up for Amsoil ATF.. wanna try the most popular brand in Amarika...

thank you for the comments bro... actually, u're right! Mitsu would have engineered the SPIII ATF's before recommending it to be used for Mitsu gearboxes... let me try switching to Diaqueen and see how it goes... would probably opt for MOTUL if i have the budget in future later... thanks again guys...

hey Bro NeuroOne, how have u been? thanks for the advise bro... i was actually using the Penzoil SPIII ATF but i guess it never really worked for my car... that's the reason i switched to Type-4... looks like Type-4 will definitely blow up my GB if i stick to it... LOL! :banghead: I've ordered the Diaqueen SPIII from a fren and would be flushing my GB in a week time... let's see how smooth it goes...
