Air con expert help~

Hi all,

I have few questions to ask.
i.) will aircon gas gone if there is no leak at all in air con system?
ii.) where is the aircon sponge located?? how its look like? anyone got its picture, i cant search thru internet with tis word " air con sponge".

Refrigerant will not deplete if no leaks in your circuit..aircond sponge u mention i think is called dust filter..what happen my friend?for compressor oil,it will refill together with refrigerant,around 10ml by using the aircond machine at the shop..

jus worried my air compressor kong one day.. last weeks just refill the air con gas.. where the air con gas go..i dont know... i think should be leak somewhere else, maybe thru "dust filter" coz once a while my air con blow out some white smoke which i think the dust filter is koyak.. izzit true?

white smoke? u meant mist from the aircond outlet inside ur car? u drive with windows down while aircond running?

there are few step to diagnoses this..

1.try to off your ac and run the blower itself..see if the white smoke come out or not..
2.do you smell something when you switch on the aircond?smell like bitter..
3.try open your engine hood and check the HP and LP line to compressor,check together your
condenser and receiver drier..(spot black marking like a sand very alot around this three things if got)
4.when your cooling effect is gone,the white smoke still came off?

i can't confirm what things is spoil but i confirm there is a leak some where between this item:

-compressor O-ring
-evaporator
-condenser
-receiver drier O-ring
-pipeline

Maybe u can try give a look for that 1st..

lately my air cond is taking quite abit of energy to cool the car...resulting in drastic drop in RPM idling range. Causing me to install a FICD (which worked like a charm) Thats No.1

No.2 is over sometime like 15mins thru when the air cond is on, i noticed a distinct petrol smell thru the blower..i don't think its normal cuz it recently happened

any diagnosis towards my experiences?

i'll tell you what i've NOT done to my car since i bought it...service the air cond..hehe
i really feel its time to

i seldom use the air cond anyway...say twice a week? the rest of the time i prefer the cool night breeze. i hardly take my car out in the sun

maybe u can check your blower inlet coz the petrol can't smell if it go through in your aircond circuit,unless the evaporator is leak..

will service n check the entire air con system soon, i suspect it'll cost quite alot

have 1 question here....if u leave your car around 3-5 month..will it effect ur air con gas?...mine not cold edy ...if turn aircon only angin2 keluar..

i think that should not happen..btw,where do you store ur vehicle in that 3-5 month?

if im not mistaken, proton dun have dust filter....
i tried asking for replacements before

yo,pocket just want to update..i just check with my senior technician,no dust filter for wira,putra,satria..

Only the model savvy onwards got this but it not really like a dust filter but just looks like a thiny grille..D**n,can't filter hazardous gases from outside..:stupid:

i noticed also proton when u on aircond n circulate in the cabin, when ur behind a diesel lorry the exhaust can smell.

sometimes pass by durian stall also the smell go in n tempt me to stop n have a few biji

haha..can detect durian automatically..but very2 need to stay from garbage truck! or u will be suffer with smell to death..hihi..

but how to off a/c and run the blower only? i dun smell anything btw, arghh... what is the evaporator? izzit cooling coil? how bout condenser? izzit radiator??

my mechanic once told me that aircon gas is smiliar to tire air pressure, will be gone if u no driving for a long time:sleep::sleep:

yes,evaporator=cooling coil
condenser=in front of radiator(for proton it will be at a side)

for proton u just turn the temp to off position..

and then press the aircond button..the blower will run it alone without cooling effect..

for ur mechanic reason,i think its wrong coz aircond gas is inside it own circuit and will not gone if there no leaking..

what do u already check recently?
