halo all bro here....i need to gather for more information for a31 lah...ppl say a31 very old and bad leh..what do you think???i cannot make decision coz all my frens say me crasy u buy this costly repair and high fuel consumption car...heard those bad comment veli sien one leh u know...bro ong,bro cmng, and all ceffy taikor here...gimme some opinion leh...very trouble me lah....

Good base chasis for a hotrod. Rigid enough chasis that could be stiffened up even more with some decent pillar strut bars and anti-roll bars. Independent suspension and rear wheel drive...perfect for power applications.

You'll need to throw away the engine and rebuild with a RB motor.

very stable on high speed. drift shudnt b any prob. just look at toyo tires drift team.
chop shop spare parts lots at reasonable price.
transplant RB det engine and ... let it be skyfiro!!!

it depends what u want from A31? since the drift craze hits our shore, A31's value has increased. But of course, bcoz of the potential as drift car, u can easily get parts from chop shop (for RB series engine)

maintainance shouldnt be expensive as for all Nissan unless u send them to Tan Chong!

FC wise, it depends how u drive. if u always rev till redline, of course u wont be getting good return. its around the same for all 2.0 cars. bear in mind our petrol's prices have increase signficantly and will increase again in the near future.

A31 is comfy as a family car yet it is possible to turn it into a drift monster. a RB series or SR series engine with bigger turbos, injectors, ecu, exhaust etc could raise the power to 300hp easily but it wont be cheap.

in the end, its what u want!? not what we think...

my first car is kancil lah...and...i wan to buy another power lil bit car for my weekend ride lah...a31 is my first choice since so many drift ppl using it...and modify it little and little loh...all cefiro tai kor here...plz let me know the fuel consumption and road tax and insurance per yr....juz for information b4 i buy mah...hehe...tqtq...newbie here....

if u r treatin it as weekend, shouldnt be worry about FC...afterall, its for fun.
as for roadtax, depends what u get. for RB20DET, is around rm400...RB25DET is around RM890.

for insurance, it depends how much u wanna insure n if u have any NCB. check with ur local agent.

pening²

alow taiko..im new here..i pening 2 make decision between FTO n A31..
but i prefer 2 buy cefiro cz more interested 2 drift sometimes n cnvert 2 R32..Of course using RB20DET but all my pren say RB is very manja engine, hard 2 maintain, very xpensive sparepart..its true?n cn i using facelift R33?
so plz help me out ok tq..

ahlengchai (cheh, betul ke ),
u cant compare FTO n A31...one its NA Coupe, with sporty look. another 4-drs saloon with potential for drifting. of course if u r lookin for speed n fun, A31 with RB20DET or RB25DET would suit u more...in terms of spareparts, i think FTO is more expensive coz its rare!!! how often u find a FTO?? but u can c A31 everywhere nowadays...its common and u can find plenty of halfcuts.

im not too sure what u meant by manja but it depends who n how u mod it. i dont think u can fit R33 bodyparts into A31 but no prob with R32..

if you like A31, just go for it.....!!!!!!!! u won't regret!!!! (I forgot how many times i've said this to ppl who are thinking of buying one)

If u afraid engine will give u problems, don't be, it's a very tough engine

if you r planning this car for a sunday car (for fun only), then straight away go for RB25det, 'cause no need invest a lot of money also can get high power already, just boost until 0.9 bar enough

and prepare to buy at least 16" wheels 'cause the 4 pot calipers can't fit in to most of the 15" wheels

or if u don't want any hassel, straight away buy a modified one, no headaches

spare parts is very very easy to find plus they are very cheap

u can check with the NISSAN forum sponsored by TAN CHONG in ZTH, there's lots of information there....

and let's make your friends REGRET saying that A31 is old and bad, MAKE THEM OPEN THEIR EYES, 'cause if u own one, with bodykits big rims and a big spoiler or GTwing, they WILL ENVY you, muahahahahah!!!

and also tease them with their GOOD FUEL CONSUMPTION wiras, wajas, satrias or WHATEVER cars they are driving, 'cause RB engines if tuned by professionals, can make a very economical everyday car......like mine......FC heavier than 1.6 wira a bit only, if on highway, it's the same with 1.6 wira (180km = RM40 average 160kmph) but i CAN REACH MY DESTINATION A LOT MORE FASTER!!!

storm...glad there r some pro here to help. im sure u r really enjoying ur ride. anyway, to clear the original nissan 4 pot calipers, we can opt for cheaper skyline r32 rims...16"...and a lot tougher than taiwan rims...

I'm using skyline RB20det

Ongtekweng, I'm not pro lah, just been driving and modding for one year plus only, but a lot of things had gone through within this one year time, so most of the problems of this engine i will know, the most kacau problem of RB20 is only the AFM, need to service every 7000km or so....so I'll be planning to upgrade to stand alone ECU using MAP sensor, no more AFM to kacau me...haha

if wanna use original skyline rims, must change to 5 lugs already, must invest some money to do the conversion also, but the benefit is u get more choices of rims from branded companies from japan loh...it depends on your budget lah, can get original R34 rims 18" for a very cheap price, 'cause most of the owners of R34 will change rims once they got the new car, they'll sell their ori rims cheap cheap one (without the tires of course)

e39a, you said "I know my cars are old, but they're better than yours.....LOL" on the bottom of your replies, I fully agree with u, old cars these days CAN be better than most of the new cars that cost more than RM40K to buy...haha, 40K woh!!!
I can mod my car to the MAXIMUM already loh....

this term only apply to those who are "power crazy" like me

no offence to those who buy new cars ah.....just saying out loud my thoughts....cheers....

u r right..its better to get those standalone ecu...nissan's AFM its problematic if u dont know how to take care them...

anyone also wants the RB26dett engine in their A31, but it's too expensive and the undertable money for the JPJ approval will be a bitch too expensive also...
