Hi guys,

my cousin 97 perdana sei wanna change engine, he currently dunno which 1 to go for, he got 2 choices,

1) 6A12 TT, but these engine need much more maintainance right?
2) 6A12 Mivec, should be less maintainance compare to turbo engine, but this mivec engine need to modify the perdana engine mounting right?

wat ur suggestion guys?

and his perdana sei coming with ABS, so the half cut ABS can be replace the stock and use?

oh ya, which oil pump good ar? RX-7 punya oil pump?

thanks... :D

A cheaper choice would the stock Perdana V6 engine - also called 6A12.

Or if u want join the dark side of engine conversion, go for force-induction (aka turbo-charging).

Avoid the 6A12 MIVEC (it is the terbalik type) as it would be illegal to mod the stock mountings. Guarantee won't pass JPJ unless you have lots of mullah to give them.

I heard from a Perdana owner that many converted their rides into full blown Eterna - complete with AWD drivetrain and twin turbos. Curiously enough, they got JPJ approvals too.

Only caveat: convert engine 1st and send it for inspection n later do AWD conversion. There is nothing written on the pink slip stating the car has converted to AWD.

i got suggest him V6 also, but he wan manual transmission, so PV6 engine cant liow since auto...
hmmh, looks like 6A12 TT is the way to go only ar?

or there are some others engine can fit into perdana?

suggestions are all welcome~~~ :D

broooo. u 1 fastttt
than go for evo3...
cos evo3 hv many performance to upgrade maaaa.
faster thab v6tt much much.
v6tt onli about 215hp, but evo3 270..

NiCkY7, if your cousin wants a V6, the choices are below:-

1) 6A12 NA
2) 6A12 TT
3) 6A12 MIVEC

All of the above is plug and play. No engine mounting change/fabrication necessary. Btw, there are 6A12 NA manual. We have quite a number running in the V•Sixers: Perdana V6 Club.

taiko,

the 6A12 NA is same with the stock PV6 engine right? so how about the gearbox? is auto 1 right? or can get other manual gearbox to put also?

is there any car that comes with 6A12 NA with manual transmission? maybe get a whole halfcut is cheaper...

6A12 Mivec no need modify mounting meh? i heard many ppl said need, and my cousin mechanic also say need to modify a bit.
or which car punya 6A12 Mivec u mentioning?
there also got others Mivec engine right? MD and bla bla bla...

alamak, i also pening liow d....

another way to short cut it la, my cousin wan lower maintainance engine yet good power also la, the 6A12 TT maintainance fees will killing him  ...

so wat ur suggestions for budget ppl?

if u go for 6a12 mivec, is more expensive than v6tt.
than u 1 budget, than go for 6a12 which same as perdana 1 lahhhh
there also got manual 1...
u can get in h/cut also...
abut 140hp...
i if try b4, but for those who not going to die, it is ok lahhh (i means the power)
buttt i tell u lar, if u really go for this engine, in the future time, u will blame it is no power laio.
so if 1 2 play car, better go for better engine..... dont waste$$$$$$$$

hi NiCkY7,

Sorry for hijacking your thread...but personally I'm also interested in this exact same conversion...

Was just wondering whats the cost like, for the whole conversion.

Also, what about the fuel consumption. The v6tt should require a different fuel pump which comes with a fuel regulator...so I'm told. Anyone has any info on that?

Also the 6A12 Mivec (or Mivec MD??? sorry, blur a bit) seems like ok also. Maintenance is cheaper but h/cut is more expensive, from what I've seen. Fuel consumption isn't a problem though, as it's not forced induction i.e. no special fuel rate/fuel pump, etc.

So, all Zthians...any thoughts on these comments?

please...

NiCkY7, the 6A12 NA from the Eterna are reputed to produce more bhp than the local version. There are manual versions available.

If your base car is a V6, it's the same mounting for the 6A12 MIVEC. Bear in mind we are talking about the engine from the Eterna NOT the FTO.

If maintenance is an issue go for the NA/MIVEC.

mutsuraboshi, the V6TT has a different fuel pump as compared to the NA. Yes you might wanna go for an uprated fuel pump if you can't source for the TT pump. We have guys using the Merc to RX7 fuel pump.

V-Spec,

What about AWD conversions? I've seen many PV6 and PSEI with AWD. According to one of the owner, JPJ approved his conversion.

acbc, Puspakom approved yes. Afterall, we are in Malaysia ma. ;)

Actually it is illegal coz those Wira/Satria need to cut the floor pan to fit in the log shaft where as in the Perdana there are no such need. The 'tunnel' is already in place. But one will need to change to the 4WD fuel tank tho.

Dunno la the law sometimes can be a lil bit ambigious.

thanks for the info on the fuel pumps V-Spec :D

About the AWD conversion, I've heard similar info...that the Wira/Satrias are actually not allowed to convert to AWD due to certain reasons, which I didn't really find out. But I do know that some people lock the rear diffs to make it work like an AWD or something...

As for the Perdana full conversion to AWD, I'd say it's probably possible with JPJ/Puspakom as we are after all in M'sia.

Malaysia Boleh ma!! ;)

icic...

but my cousin car is Perdana sei ooh, not V6 model, so the mounting not ngam for 6A12 mivec right?

ya, for the fuel pump, RX-7 is good is it? y ar? is it the car 1300cc but can produce high power, so the fuel pump must also keng 1? this my agak-agak thinking only... :P

:)

eeh... my fren was peviously driving a perdana converted to mivec v6
he said the fuel consumption is crazy man ...
somemore now petrol price naik liao
so he sold of his car.

:o That's strange ja50n

If I'm correct, the fuel consumption for a Mivec V6 should be around 12L/100km...which shouldn't be too far off from the standard Perdana V6 fuel consumption...

unless it's a V6TT la...hehehe :P then should be quite high...probably about 20L/100km or more I reckon... B)

In other words, AWD is just a bolt-on procedure right?
