84' Toyota LE

Hi sifu sifu,
i hv just received a said LE from my parents.. condition of the car is getting older.
water is sipping through door panel n there's noise coming from all 4 wheels.
i send it for a check up n the mechanic told me it needs around rm3k for changing absorbers n some other things on the wheel base.
is it worth it? the engine seems ok to me... so, i still feel i should keep the car..
considering, i m in my mid 20s n i drive fairly fast at times... any recommendation? wat to change/mod?

hi frenzzz.....me also using SVT20v in my baby LE...the problem is...my check engine signal is menyala ler...when my RPM is 2500......why aaaa...any sifussss here can story me aaaaa....im still using LE dsboard n meter....it happened since i convert the engine and still now....but my engine give me no prob anyway....risauuuu gakkk...lampu tu menyalaaaa

adgelmy,
u are not using the SVT's speed sensor. if your LE dashboard speedometer still functioning, it means that whoever put ur gearbox changed the speed sensor with the analog speedgear.

your ECU does not get any speed signal from the gearbox, it gives out that error when u reach 2500RPM. its nothing serious to worry about, but it MAY have some long term effects.

hehheeh....so how to using SVT speed sencor....if i using SVT dsbord,,,the problem can solve arrrrrr.....and 1 more thing....what type of ekzos should i using on my baby LE....4 max performance.....

when playing old cars like LE...u must have a group or contact with LE owner...
at least u can ask them to help u find those thing...cuz part usually goes around LE group mmber...believe meee...i also played 20years aged car...

for car enthuthiast like me...rebuild ur car from scrap it's a thrill...heeee...at the same time u'll get to know u car better...:D

happened to me before...
what i did was...disconnetted the ECU...adjust the connection...plus rewiring back my gadgets that connected to the ecu...then readjust speed sensor on the gearbox...then connect back the ECU...then run a diagnosis error...wallaaa everthing went back to normal...

P/S : the speed sensor location...AE80TypeD can describe better than me...:D

actually i m on a tight budget...
wat i do with rm4k?
i think i will just service the old engine n keep it for the time being coz i read changing to SVT/BT will cost 4K alone...
priority now is to fix the damn noise coming from the wheel... haha
i sent it for another checkup n the mech told me it's drive shaft n bearing..
wat is the most cost effective way to change those stuff?
list of stuff to fix:
1.brake - tak makan
2.tyre - bcame botak
3.suspension - noise coming from all over the place
4.drive shaft/bearing - noise from front
5.service engine, change tear n wear parts

other possible stuff includes exhaust, power windows for front, alarm system, change the old steering wheel, wrap the chairs....

i think 4k is not enough...

regarding the VSS and 2500RPM checklight problem;

in terms of solving your problem, u have no choice but to find the mechanic who did the transplant and wiring for u, or look for a Toyota-savvy mechanic (if u bought the car already with 20V).

the first 2 things are inspections:

1. u must ask him where the original electronic speedsensor (a socket on top) is, bcoz if he threw it away then no use oso.

2. is the VSS female socket still present in the wiring loom on the engine (sometimes ppl cut whatever wires they think is useless)

The next problem, is if u put back the VSS socket and complete the original wiring, ur original LE speedometer will be useless. u have to use the TRUENO/LEVIN meter cluster in order to get a speed reading for urself. I cannot suggest much in that matter, bcoz there are many solutions (both easy and hard). and yes one of them is to replace the whole dashboard to the halfcut's original one.

That is all i know. the rest is up to you and the mechanic who did the transplant.

bro, u can use BMW E30 spoiler...it ngam ngam fit to LE & its looks really nice...

bro, i dun hv a pic...ARB oso hard to find for LE but mine got ARB for rear coz it come with it. As for LE parts, you really gotta search high & low at chop shop...coz rare items liow...
