got my car on the dyno today. my first time ever and i'm not too pleased. i expected the hp to be around 190 but it only gave 157. the only mods are a 176mm oversized crank pulley and abv mod.
any help on where i should start on finding the problem(s) would be appreciated.

its o.k but the standard power is supposed to be more. with the oversized crank pulley i expected a lot more. would engine management help?
 
I think the on the wheel dyno is 130 hp! green line!

On the fywheel dyno is 157HP! Blue line!
 
yeap..157hp is the flywheel dyno, and on the wheel horse power is around 130hp, which is rather abit low...i guess!
 
toyota supercharger was never a effiecient supercharger! the higher the boost the more losses you will get! The supercharger will not last either!
 
my gze gain 158hp on green line after i change the intercooler to blitz.... of coz i got the oversize pulley and abv mod...s-afc2 helps a lot :D try MSD and see....u will feel the power, waxer52....good luck

Hmm...looks like in this case, it's not just a loss of 8-12hp...more like 27hp. Banyak jugak...
 
o.k i know this is very low for a gze. how will i start to find out whats wrong. is there a step by step way of going through the engine. like compression test, timing,......
 
You will have to face the fact that supercharger only produce that kind of power! The best you will get after tunning maybe 10HP more!

The more u boost the s/c the more ineeficient it gets. SC 12 dont work well with heat and it also produce heat easily.
 
but as a standard engine i thought it puts out about 170bhp. a guy here in ireland has a ae92 afm version with the same mods and put ont 197bhp. how come my engine is so inefficent.
 
just got the compression checked. cylinders 1 2 3 all 140psi and cylinder 4 130psi. i can't be loosing power here?
 
sc 12 a bit sucks.....but u can try decrease ur power loss by change ur clutch to semi racing or fully race type.....wat is ur boost psi ??? got supercharger boost controller ??
 
my boost is running at 0.8 bar and tails off gradually. no boost controller is installed.
 
boost controller? i tot SC boost was controlled by the size of pulley instead of electronic controller?
 
i can find nothing wrong with the car. compression good, timing good, boost o.k (no leaks). could it be possible that the rolling road was set up wrong for my car? the guy that did it said he had to set the gear ratio for my car. he has had 20valve levins doing 200 bhp.
 
Hi... My ride power by Ae92 4AGZE... I have done a dyno test before, and I got 178hp on wheel... here is my mode spec..
- port polish block
- metal gasket
- CA18DET Piston
- SAFC
- Bigger crank pulley
- Iridum spark plug
- Short air ram pipe
- Retard the distributor
- Standard ECU
- Exhaust 2 1/3 straight flow
- 42 psi fuel pressure
- Bosch fuel pump taken from Merc (Rep Czech)
- Lighten flywheel (deducted 1.5 kg)

From my humble opinion, if you expect more horsepower, forget about supercharge.. Convert your 4AGZE to 4AGTE... Instead of wasting money and time like me.. In motorsport world, everything is about 'SETTING' not how many performance and brand of item you put in your car.. When you looking for more horsepower, you're not gurantee to lead in front, but when you look for how fast the car can reach 200km. Im sure you don't spend so much money 'lavishly' in moddin your engine... Be wise..

check your torque, your dyno sheet shows that your engine has a whole 20lb-ft more torque than any stock 4agze.

so here's what i can understand from your lost of power:

you work your supercharger too much, it gain more torque low end, but lost power at higher rpm cuz its just too hot to work effeciently. You should know how hp/torque is calculated, so if your high end looses torque, then you loose hp as well. same thing like diesel engine, high low end torque, but not a high rev engine, thus low hp figure.

basically, your engine already IS more powerful then stock gze (under 5k rpm that is)
