anyone here using this combination, heard these few comments...

pros:
1. low end torque increase
2. overall power increase
3. higher compression
4. stronger internals compared to 16v
5. more efficient cooling from ribbed block

cons:
1. fueling from 16v ECU not very efficient on hi revs, need AFC to compensate
2. valve clearance have to be adjusted with adjustable cam pulleys, or was it piston knock.... can't remember what tyresmoke said :(

anything else i should be aware of?? sifu's pls advise

I'm quite interested to learn more about your project, Mr. leviathan. Did you already consider Blacktop AE111 block?

Wanna go for this combination?

I have an AE101 block.

At AC place.

20v silvertop/blacktop uses the same block as 4agze and later model 4age 16v. It's the 7 rib block but not sure if 16v comes with oil squirters or not.

As I know, the 101 has stronger internals and 'tahan lasak' compared to 111. Although the 111 produces more hp on stock compared to 101 due to its AFM and MAP difference, most ppl choose to use the 101 SC or NA for force induction or power upgrades.
Correct me if Im wrong. Me noob in 4AGE. Cheers

Wei wei I want the block :P
MK,

You want the block? PM me the offer and at the same time you can have a look at the block at Goodspeed, Kepong.

i thought 101 and 111 using same block but differs at internals?

newbie...

deciding factor for 101 vs 111 block.... $$$$$

there are plus points for 111 though... true not so kebal... but no one's gonna thrash the engine so hard until it pecah except for tayar berasap... for us should be ok la.... balanced internals sounds tempting also.... but it comes down to the $$$$$

16v no oil squirt lor.... oil squirt start from svt onwards....

no one try this combo meh?? need feedback lar..... :(

Tayar Berasap and Adian running 16v with 101 block I believe.

yar.. i know... just seeing if anyone else here got use...

when you free ar MK.... susah get clock panel from you lor....

no command. cos i dun see any different from there hahaha...
theory 7rib block is stronger, but i never see ppl pecah block on 16v N.A AE86. U only gain the weight kekeke.. comparing block i still will stay with AE86 block if it still in good condition, no need to spend for new block and need to worry JPJ registering issue.

if u plan to shot 150hp N2O in, there is alot stress on the block. if u talk about n/a , the max compression u can go is 12-13:1 c/r, there is no stress on your block but the only thing u worried is blow the con-rod bearing or crank blancing issue. if u going to 10krpm, AE86 con-rod will stress.

If talking full internal, no much advantage for n/a but worth to go for it. any way 20v piston enough valve clearance on16v head? i dont know... anyone can tell me about tat?

i read from somewhere that the 20v piston will not clear the 16v valve clearance, even with the stock cam. not to mention using high lift cam...

just another thing i found and kinda remember when randomly searching for 4ag info. i dunno how true is that statement.... :(

20v piston will not clear the 16v valve clearance.... have to retard the cams in order to clear.... thats what i heard anyway... 1 famous guy using this combo told me

te27... replacing with 101 block cheaper than rebuilding the 16v block la.... blow conrod bearing??? really hardcore right? dont think i gonna build to reach 10k rpm's....

watch up with the con-rod bearing..keke..
4AG con-rod bearing is weak.. only good for 9krpm..
