Hi Sifus,

Any one uses 3S engines ? Are the 3SGTE / 3SGE same engine platforms ?

Is it wise to transplant this engine ?

well some did say overheating issues will arise...
and blackhowling says..."4AGTE corolla can win 3SGTE corolla"

well... erm this topic has been discussed before.. would glad to get the URL for you...but im now very f#ckstrated having to put up with stupid streamyx
 
i believe 3s is too heavy for a corolla regarding handling issue

found out something quite interesting from a site.

A complete 3SGE is only 6kg heavier than a complete 4AGE20V.

so i dun think weight is not an issue.
but wait...hmmm...maybe the g'box is alot heavier?
wat g'box do they normally use for FF 3s?
 
i do heard using 3sge NA gb,sw20 gb or even 4wd gb lock.

3s and 4a only 6kg difrent meh ??
 
it all depends on what u want... 3SGTE in a corolla could upset the overall balance and handling of d car...
 
I'd seen a few 3SGTE in a corolla with one being a good friend of mine. He managed to put in a 4wd gearbox into his Seg. No problem so far as 4wd has a very good traction.

While i do agree that the 3SGTE is among the heaviest in the range, compared to 3SGE, 4AGE and etc, but still, the torque is unbelievable. Dont do it at an unexperienced workshop. Dont get the 3SGTE from ST205 because it has proves to bring headaches as found with my friend's suspension because it is a Superstrout. A ST185 halfcut would be a better option.

unless the turbo components and gearbox are very very heavy

or, tht website is cheating by saying 3sGE is only 6kg heavier than 20V.

many with 3sgte corrolla said the same thing...must be tht website cheating ppl...

somehow something tells me that there is more to just that 6kg extra. probably the weight distribution IN the engine itself, might not be the weight itself.

got this idea from F1, not only the engine have to be light, HOW and WHERE it should weight somehow got into play also for the best balance.

probably thats the reason why 6kg extra make a big difference cuz the engine itself maybe not suited for corolla.

Ahhh.. got a few words with sinsei William-san. He rather not do the job himself stating that it will cause his mighty name to fall.. hahahahah :D :lol: :lol:

But still, he says that the engine compartment is too small to fit the 3S engines. He rather turbo the 20Vs. :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

But expensive wor... I need more torque... how to get leh ?
 
BUt I don't have 4age 16v wor... got 4afc and 4age 20v only. :P

Tauhu Tauhu, the website is not true to say that 4AGE weights only 6kg lighter than 3SGTE, that is not possible, unless if they measure engine kosong only, but even engine kosong also weights much more than that. Last time when my friend did his conversion, even the engine jack was nailed down into the earth, you say la how heavy is the 3S.

3S engine, possible to squeeze in an AE111, but would be a very tight fitting that means, changing any beltings require you to remove the engine from the bay and putting it back. As an example :

the 3sge i said,stated in the web is N/A 3SGE...
they measured it, and it's oni 6kg heavier than 20V. not engine kosong but complete engine...
dunno how true it is..
 
someone volunteer cabut their engine go timbang sure kau tim liau :lol:

anyway, off topic abit, edmund if knock on the firewall so that distributor of 20v can go in KE70, later need change something in the distributor need to take out the whole engine or not?

just curious, since something happened, will go another way for my transplant... need all the info so next time won't regret
